What the job involves

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our collaborative and growing engineering team in Berlin
In this role, you will be responsible for the overall design, development and implementation of front and back-end applications
This will include using React to deliver features for our customer facing website and internal back-office applications, building Python services in a service-oriented architecture
You'll contribute to a service-oriented architecture using gRPC, and work closely with other engineers, designers, and product managers to shape scalable, high-quality systems
We follow innersource principles that promote shared ownership and cross-team contribution
MPB is deeply invested in technology and innovation, with a cloud-native approach and a strong culture of openness, learning, and experimentation
You'll be based in our friendly Berlin office, working closely with co-located team members and colleagues in the UK
Building and maintaining features in TypeScript/JavaScript using atomic React component libraries
Developing and extending Python web services to support new features and evolving needs
Collaborating with a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, and operations colleagues to create software following industry best practices
Helping shape system design and architecture decisions
Fixing bugs, adapting to changing requirements, and continuously improving features
Documenting your APIs so they can be consumed downstream by the Backend/Frontend and Test Automation teams as well as Data Analytics teams
Providing technical guidance, mentoring (including pair programming) to less senior engineers

Brighton-based MPB’s used camera and photo equipment marketplace has been going through a period of rapid growth of late, reflecting the European used goods marketplace as a whole.

The company joins the likes of Wallapop (Spain) and Vestiaire Collective (France) in a coterie of second-hand buy & sell platforms that have risen in popularity, and received major funding as a result. While used goods platforms have always been very popular online, MPB and its ilk’s niche market approach is paying off. The public conscience surrounding sustainability and circular economies no doubt plays a role in this.

However, the main factor behind the company's sharp growth may be the rise of online content creators, which has created a greater demand than ever for quality film and photo equipment. With no sign of demand slowing for MPB’s platform, the company is aiming to ramp up operations across its locations in Brighton, Berlin, and Brooklyn, and possibly expand further afield.
