Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a seasoned Senior Security Manager to oversee, guide and elevate our Security Operations and Cyber Risk team which sits under Tech
- Extensive experience with a modern security stack, including hands-on experience of SIEM & SOAR technologies, EDR & CASB solutions. This has to be within a fast paced security operations environment, that's provided a thorough understanding of the MITRE ATT&CK framework, NIST CSF, ISO27k and PCI and their correct application to businesses
- You will be confident working with both technical and business stakeholders to translate security needs to business needs, taking a pragmatic approach to security and risk. This will also include the assisting / leading 3rd party security audits & due diligence
- Professional experience in attack surface management, security threat hunting and incident response whilst implementing security awareness programs across a business
- Direct experience of vendor risk management
- Proficient technical security understanding of Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP or Azure as well as data engineering tools and concepts and the following tooling platforms - CSPM, CIEM & DSPM
What the job involves
- Be a team builder: you’ll build, manage, and mentor a team of security engineers with a focus on security operations, threat hunting and risk management.
- Be a driver: you’ll drive company and project goals, prioritise resources, and ensure timely delivery. You’ll implement effective security processes, technology, and policies for sustained growth
- Be a Funding Circle Rep: you’ll represent Funding Circle Security and management at industry events, and help grow our brand within the community
- Be a collaborator: you’ll forge deep bonds with your business counterparts, understanding their needs and sharing ownership of their outcomes
- Be a teacher: be generous with your time and expertise to teach stakeholders and fellow Circlers how to answer their own questions

Our take
Funding Circle launched in 2010 and it was the perfect time in the market. After the financial crisis in 2008, financial institutions were hesitant to lend money. Loans to SMEs were at record lows.
This meant that Funding Circle's innovative platform - connecting investors and businesses directly - had immediate product-market fit and growth. Funding Circle remains incredibly focused on small businesses, and this set it apart from other lending platforms. The business has since expanded to the USA.
The company completed its IPO in September 2018 in a challenging economic environment in Europe and the USA. In 2020, however, trading in the group’s core UK market was helped by its participation in the government’s Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme – the company says it has been responsible for a quarter of CBILS loans by volume since it was accredited to join the scheme in April 2020. Funding Circle continues to be a leading SME financing platform, exemplified by its partnership with Bayview Asset Management, with whom it has surpassed £1 billion in funding for its Term Lending product.
