- Architect: You're passionate about architecture and designing for scale

What the job involves
- As a member of Ascend’s backend engineering team, you will design, implement, and scale a variety of micro-services that power the entire Ascend platform
- You will leverage your experience and satiate your curiosity while integrating with the most modern big data and infrastructure platforms in the world
- Design and manage robust, simple, and maintainable systems
- Drive architectural design decisions that improve the scalability, performance, and efficiency of our backend systems
- Integrate and use a wide array of technologies, including AWS, GCP, and Azure cloud services
- Evaluate new tools, technologies, and processes to improve team speed and efficiency
- Actively participate in our evolving engineering process
Our take
Advanced data analytics has changed the way businesses function in recent years, and companies too slow on the uptake face a turbulent ride ahead. That’s where Ascend.io comes in, offering a unified platform for automating a business’ entire data engineering and analytics workflow.
Its selling point is the scale of the platform. Input data from files, apps, APIs and more, and work with them as you need. It runs a flexible multi-code interface, allowing you to build data transformation programs in a way that works for you, and claims to save hours or days of time through its automation capabilities.
Data automation is a busy new market though, and Ascend.io faces competition from the likes of unicorn start-up Matillion. But despite the competition, it's seen solid global growth and revenues across Europe and Asia as well as impressive funding, which has aided the expansion of its data cloud capabilities, the hiring of new talent from Google, and the forging of new business partnerships with the likes of data cloud giant Snowflake.
