What the job involves
- We are hiring for a Senior Associate on Chime’s Compliance Assurance & Testing team. You will work in a fast paced environment and play an essential role in ensuring Chime remains compliant with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and bank partner expectations
- In this role you will perform strategic end-to-end compliance testing of Chime’s innovative products and services to identify risks and control gaps. This will involve partnership with internal teams, as well as collaboration with our issuing bank partner’s legal and compliance teams. This role will report to the Head of Compliance Assurance and Testing
- Lead the end-to-end compliance testing process: from strategically scoping the review, partnering with cross functional teams to obtain necessary documentation, performing robust testing and gathering/reporting testing results to senior management
- Proactively assist the business by identifying solutions to complex issues/findings and performing follow-up to ensure remediation is successful
- Partner with cross-functional teams to perform compliance testing and/or to support bank partner testing oversight
- Play a key role in creating and designing automated internal compliance monitoring and testing to identify trends, issues, and key performance and risk indicators
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and understand regulatory impact of changes to product/service offerings
Our take
Chime is part of the growing realm of fintech banks and providers, emphasising straightforward, cost-effective banking solutions. It cuts the expenses tied to basic bank accounts and provides users with greater autonomy in managing their finances.
In contrast to many traditional banks that levy steep fees and hefty penalties for overdrafts while offering meagre interest rates on savings, Chime addresses a crucial gap in the banking sector. Its primary focus is on catering to individuals with modest savings who seek the convenience of automated digital banking.
With a remarkable ascent in its trajectory, Chime's current valuation stands at $11.6B since its 2025 IPO. However, competition remains fierce, with other neobanks like Ally offering similar features and vying for the same customer base. That being said, Chime's IPO, rare in a financially uncertain period, proves that it has shifted from challenger to major player.
