Role
Who you are
- 8+ years of engineering with 2+ years of engineering management experience
- Meaningful experience with billing, payments, pricing, or other revenue-critical systems (usage-based or subscription); or you have built similarly high-integrity, auditable systems
- Proficiency in recruiting, organizing, and motivating teams
- Passionate about helping people grow in their careers and people management
- An owner mindset and passionate about being in a product-focused environment where everyone cares deeply about customer impact
- Expertise in Golang, Java, Typescript, SQL, GCP / AWS are highly desirable
What the job involves
- We’re seeking a Tech Lead Manager to lead the Billing and Insights charter that underpins Glean’s consumption-based pricing and product analytics
- As a TLM, you’ll provide expert technical direction and thoughtful coaching to a passionate team of engineers
- This team owns the end-to-end stack that makes our AI products metered, billable, and explainable—from logging and usage pipelines to billing dashboards and product insights
- You’ll partner closely with Product, Finance, Data, and Go-To-Market to ensure every AI feature we ship is accurately metered, transparently billed, margin-positive, and easy for customers to understand
- Build a high-performing team with an inclusive and positive team culture
- Provide technical leadership and vision in a widely scoped engineering team
- Drive the development of the product and platform in a fast-paced environment
- Coach and mentor engineers at different levels to achieve their career goals
- Champion best practices in software development, quality assurance, and project management to drive operational excellence
- Drive the evolution of our consumption / Flex pricing infrastructure and insights experiences in a fast-paced environment
- Partner with Finance, Pricing, RevOps, and Product to translate pricing and reporting needs into robust technical architecture and workflows
Our take
Glean is an intuitive digital assistant which allows employees to search across all their apps and find the information and tools that they need more quickly.
With so many SaaS apps being used by modern day companies, overwhelm and inefficiency inevitably enter the equation. Glean’s search engine is proving popular for how it unifies and centralizes all these distributed tools and data.
It’s been quite a start to life at Glean, having emerged from stealth in 2021, it received a $1B valuation in early 2022, thus achieving unicorn status. Since then, the company has gone on to raise substantial funding and bring its valuation up to $7.2B in 2025. With this impressive growth, its secured some big name customers like Grammarly, databricks, and Rubrik.
That Glean was co-founded by a quartet with senior experience at Google, Microsoft, Uber, and Facebook stands the company in good stead. However, it’s the fact that its search engine is solving a new, but very real problem in the workplace that’s seen its popularity surge so quickly, which it’s likely to continue to do in the future. And its adaptability to include new AI capabilities to its platform, such as generative AI, has Glean well set to see further growth.
