Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in product management in game development
- Has worked on both live and pre-launch titles
- Ability to simultaneously handle complex design challenges across multiple projects/feature areas
- Capable of managing expectations and presenting effectively to the team and senior executives

- Experience with RPGs (mobile specifically) preferred
What the job involves
- Zynga is looking for an experienced Director of Product to lead the recently launched Game of Thrones: Legends to scale the game to a long term business while providing excellence in live operations as a mid-core title
- As Director of Product, you will be responsible for the shared product vision, roadmap and owner of product outcomes for the team
- Establish a compelling product vision that aligns with creative and company goals. Define a core value proposition that is fulfilling to target audiences
- Facilitate and maintain cross-functional alignment, coordination, and strong communication across internal and partner teams
- Define must-have features and prioritize team roadmaps based on business and player impact ensuring a quality, core experience
- Understand opportunities and gaps within the competitive landscape, player archetypes, and existing product offerings
- Think player first. Know who we are building for and what will benefit them most
- Ensure the team’s product decisions are based on strong analysis. Define analytics standards in partnership with the analytics manager
- Assume ownership of outcomes for the entire product team. Consistently identify product risks and develop mitigation strategies
Our take
Zynga is a games developer that rode Facebook's platform to success back in the late noughties and early 2010's. It is now one of the biggest casual game producers globally, with a presence across 175 countries and regions and over 80 million monthly active users.
Though the company hit a number of roadblocks after its initial success - such as falling stock prices, and numerous calls it was copying other games - its subsequent resurgence is proof of its staying power. It continues to use social media as a distribution channel, and boasts titles such as FarmVille, Merge Dragons! and Words With Friends.
Future success will lie in the company's continued investment in building viral games that people love. It will also need to attune to the social media waves and keep track of where users can be found, as the landscape has become more mobile. Notable recent activity includes a collaboration with BBC Earth ahead of 2024's Earth day, and grant to develop actionable push notifications that enable gameplay without entering the application.
