Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of related experience, ideally in corporate finance, financial planning, and analysis (FP&A), investment banking, investment management, or consulting
- FP&A experience supporting financial services industry is critical
- Experience preparing and presenting information to key decision-makers
- Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, or Google Docs/Sheets/Slides
- Experience with FP&A systems
- Collaborative working style and demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
- Inquisitive nature, attention to detail, diligence, work ethic, a learning mindset, and a positive attitude
- Willingness to embrace unstructured environments and problems, and manipulate large data sets
- Time and project management skills
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent knowledge (CFA, FP&A experience, Investment analyst)

What the job involves
- We are looking for a passionate and experienced Finance Business Partner to join our growing Strategic Finance team. Strategic Finance enables SoFi to develop and execute on its growth strategy by driving financial visibility and accountability, built on strong relationships and grounded in facts
- This role will be responsible for improving strategic and financial decision-making for SoFi's Lending businesses including the Home Lending Business
- This role will also assist with carrying out the firm’s balance sheet strategy related to these businesses and drive continued improvement within overall Finance processes, scalability, and automation
- Facilitate annual and quarterly financial forecasting for SoFi's Lending businesses in partnership with Business Unit (BU) leaders and in collaboration with stakeholders across marketing, product, operations, accounting, treasury, credit, risk, and capital markets
- Be a strategic partner to the Lending teams to identify and monitor key performance indicators and develop actionable insights
- Enable the Lending teams to prioritize initiatives and make real-time decisions by evaluating and sizing impact to key growth and financial metrics
- Prepare quarterly materials to facilitate management discussion and analysis of key financial and business performance indicators
- Prepare recommendations on incremental investment opportunities by weighing financial and strategic trade-offs

Our take
SoFi started by offering ways for students to secure better financial terms on their loans, and now offers a huge range of personal finance products, including bank accounts, loans, mortgages, investment advice, and investment opportunities. Many customers find they have to go to multiple financial service providers to meet all their finance needs, but SoFi overcomes this issue by putting it all in one place.
Its goal, to cover all the financial bases, sets them apart from many of the traditional banks and even some of their digital competitors, such as Avant, which has chosen to focus on providing credit alternatives. Although it is operating in a competitive market with a lot of big players such as Monzo, Revolut, and Starling, the company has managed to raise huge amounts of funding to support its rapid expansion.
SoFi has focussed on global expansion, moving outside the US, and has made a series of acquisitions to support this - including a Hong Kong-based investment app called 8 Securities. After going public on the New York Stock Exchange via a SPAC merger in June 2021, the company has continued to evolve and release more mission-oriented services into its roster, and strengthened its lending capabilities through a $350 million post-IPO loan. To date, the company has sold over $15 billion in personal loan collateral and continues to strengthen its offering.
