Who you are
- We need someone commercially savvy who’s happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into the day-to-day running of finance —because in a growing business, everyone pitches in
- You’ll be a key player in shaping our financial strategy, optimising our operations, and supporting our long-term vision

- A seasoned finance leader – you'll be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with solid experience in a Finance Director (or similar) role
- A commercial thinker – you've got a track record of balancing financial discipline with business growth. You'll be innovative and interested in the commercial story behind our numbers
- A hands-on operator – we’re a small, collaborative team, so while you’ll be leading from the front, you won’t be afraid to roll up your sleeves and pitch in on finance admin and operations as needed
- A strong communicator – able to translate financials into plain English for non-finance teams and compelling stories for external stakeholders
- An adaptable problem solver – you thrive in a fast-paced, scaling business. Experience in proptech, insurtech or fintech would be a big plus
What the job involves
- As FD you'll shape our financial strategy to support business growth. You'll be happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck into the day-to-day running of finance, too
- We would be interested in considering applications on both a part- and full-time basis
- Owning our financial strategy – ensuring we scale in a way that’s sustainable, profitable, and aligned with our long-term vision
- Leading financial planning & analysis – providing accurate forecasting, budgeting, and data-driven insights to support smart decision-making
- Keeping cash flow healthy – optimising working capital, ensuring financial resilience, and securing funding when required
- Driving operational efficiency – reviewing and improving financial processes to reduce costs, minimise risk, and boost performance
- Managing financial compliance – ensuring we meet all regulatory requirements, tax obligations, and financial reporting standards
- Optimising revenue and cost structures – identifying opportunities to improve pricing models, reduce unnecessary spend, and increase profitability
- Providing commercial insight – working closely with other teams to assess business opportunities, understand risks, and support growth initiatives
- Building a high-performing finance function – leading and developing our small but mighty finance team to keep things running smoothly
Our take
The average rental deposit in the UK is over £1000, an amount that many tenants struggle to pay when moving home. Flatfair's answer to this is offering a non-refundable membership-fee equal to one-quarter the cost of a rental deposit, meaning renters don't have to take on credit card debt or borrow from family and friends to fund a deposit.
Other companies such as Goodlord and Movebubble have also tried to disrupt rentals, but it remains a hard space to crack. That said, Flatfair's approach, in which it becomes pivotal to both landlords and tenants, puts the company in a smart position to streamline processes and improve the experience, and certainly makes it an intriguing prospect in the space.
