Who you are
- You were responsible for closing or up-/cross-selling customers in a B2B Saas commpany in the past
- You have strong business acumen and enjoy the thrill of growing revenues
- You feel comfortable representing our company in industry associations, roundtable and at conferences
- You were part of the first 50 employees at an early stage technology company
- You are highly reliable and can organise your work really well

What the job involves
- This role is the first of its kind and it expected to play a pivotal role in shaping and growing the role and team. It requires presence in our Berlin office
- Become the trusted climate advisor for our (future) enterprise customers, ensuring retention, co-developing new value propositions and growing ARR
- Over the next 12 months you will:
- Grow annual contract values of existing enterprise customers
- Translate our impact into tangible business value for economic buyers
- Lead renewal negotiations and drive upsell opportunities with existing customers
- Expand our reach within global enterprises by unlocking new regions, teams, and decision-makers
- Support customers progress along their climate journey
- Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on any sustainability challenge
- Build thought leadership and community engagement, hosting events that bring together sustainability leaders across the industry
- Represent Root Global in the food & agriculture sustainability ecosystem, developing a strong network of advocates
- Partner with new enterprise customers across Europe
- Own and execute tailored sales cycles with some of the largest F&B multinationals
- Develop and run custom POCs and pilot projects, proving our value to sustainability leaders
- Collaborate with the product team to identify opportunities for innovation, ensuring our roadmap aligns with enterprise needs
- You will report directly to our founder: Eric
- You will get directly mentored by some of our experienced advisors and angel investors that understand the function better than most: Raul, Armon and Julius

Our take
Food chains are responsible for anywhere between 20% and 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions, and it’s something businesses can’t sweep under the rug any longer. Tightening regulations require that businesses disclose their climate performance, and stakeholders and customers are paying close attention. Bad climate practices are increasingly bad for business, and Root Global is looking to help companies keep their performance up.
The Root software platform is designed to help food and beverage companies shoot for a zero-carbon future, by offering what Root hopes will become an industry-wide carbon operating system. Essentially, a database providing full life-cycle carbon emission data so businesses can make climate practise decisions based on accurate, comprehensive data - instead of the current system of upstream and downstream estimates.
This could prove a highly valuable proposition. Increasingly large numbers of companies are setting science-based climate targets, but research suggests the majority of these are distant, imprecise, or lack actionable road maps to get there. So, solid carbon accounting software is in urgent demand, and if Root, off the back of its 2024 seed funding, can build out the client base necessary for industry-wide coverage, it stands to make a substantial impact.
