Company mission
To build the planet's most efficient factory to accelerate a democratic, abundant, spacefaring future.
Role
Who you are
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (or similar discipline), or an equivalent amount of industry experience
- AI native builder with strong business and product sense
- 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning and/or Computer Vision, including ownership of projects from prototype through production
- Hands-on experience building LLM or VLM based agents, including tool use, structured outputs, and graph orchestration
- Experience designing evaluations for non-deterministic systems and using them to decide what ships
Desirable
- Experience with classical computer vision (OpenCV, scikit-image, etc.) and with training or fine-tuning detection, segmentation, or OCR models
- Prior experience with visual document understanding and layout analysis, especially on technical data or other dense, high variance documents
- Previously worked in aerospace, defense, or manufacturing, and have experience working with 3D/CAD/CAM data for manufacturing applications
- Prior experience running models on AWS, including Bedrock or GovCloud environments
- Prior experience with tracing and observability for LLM applications (OpenTelemetry, MLflow, Langfuse, etc.)
- Strong software engineering skills and prior web development experience
- You have a passion for manufacturing and believe that the industry needs better software
What the job involves
- Hadrian is building advanced systems to automate technical data understanding and accelerate precision manufacturing planning and execution. Our platform processes technical data packages, engineering drawings and specifications, and CAD models to turn them into structured data that the rest of Hadrian uses to generate processes and plan factories
- We work closely with some of the best operators in the world to identify high-impact opportunities where agents, computer vision, and machine learning can meaningfully augment or automate complex engineering judgment. As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and scaling these systems end to end
- Design, build and deploy agentic systems that read multi-page engineering drawing sets, including page classification and the extraction of parts lists, notes, tables, dimensions, GD&T, and weld symbols
- Build the tools our agents work with, including image processing, geometry, and CAD registration, and decide which parts of a problem belong in code and which belong to the model
- Own evaluation across the system - including gold datasets, accuracy metrics, LLM-as-judge rubrics, and online checks that flag failures on documents with no ground truth
- Work in every facet of the agent lifecycle - including prompt and exemplar design, orchestration, tracing, cost and latency, and the production pipelines that carry results into our database and applications
- Combine frontier models, open-source tools, and classical computer vision to create world-class document understanding systems for manufacturing applications
Our take
Hadrian is an industrial automation company that creates autonomous factories for aerospace components. The inspiration for Hadrian was the notion that throughout history, empires begin to fall when they outsource their core industries to lower-cost countries, resulting in internal stagnation and mass unemployment.
To counter this historic trend, Hadrian was founded, which uses machine learning to automate the processes of component factories. It targets aerospace and defence, which are areas in which the USA relies on boutique experts who lack the manpower to build at scale. Its solution addresses bottlenecks in manufacturing that slow down progress, improving efficiency and capacity.
With strong investment, Hadrian is setting a precedent for a new era of machine work innovation. Its main challenge remains to convince smaller manufacturers to embrace the precision and time-saving benefits of automation. It is investing in team and product growth, including the launch of an additive manufacturing division that will deliver scalable and production-ready capacity for the US defense sector and allied partners.
