Who you are
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field
- Experience developing frontend features that present large data sets and have state management and user interactivity
- Experience with React based frontend stack, libraries and design systems
- Experience with software review, build and deployment systems (e.g., Github, Docker, AWS)
- Experience collaborating in a cross-functional team environment with a diverse group of people at all levels in an organization
- A high degree of initiative and ownership, combined with the ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt quickly to change
- Exceptional ability to structure problems and identify the most critical issues to prioritize
What the job involves
- As an Engineering Manager, you will guide the Frontend team's development of highly scalable design systems, React architecture, and libraries with many features and integrations
- Your contributions and leadership will play a pivotal role in building a safer financial system for billions of people
- Lead and nurture a team of high-impact engineers, offering guidance in both technical and cultural aspects
- Provide regular coaching and technical mentorship to your immediate team as well as contribute to the broader engineering department's growth
- Assume direct responsibility for ensuring the quality and timely delivery of the team's work, while overseeing the availability and performance of critical services
- Drive projects aligned with well-defined goals and measurable outcomes, accountable to key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Foster best practices in design and usability, creating scalable solutions while emphasizing documentation and knowledge sharing
- Resolve operational escalations and collaborate with various teams to address production incidents until resolution
- Collaborate closely with management and data teams to plan, estimate, and prioritize roadmap objectives, identifying opportunities and mitigating risks
- Build performant, and reliable production-grade systems, from whiteboard to production
- Mentor fellow team members and participate in code reviews and design reviews
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, designers, and product managers to define and implement frontend services
- Create novel approaches to tackling blockchain-specific challenges around scale, security, and privacy
Our take
The crypto space has become more mainstream but it is also intensely volatile and poorly regulated, with a high degree of anonymity afforded to its users. As such it has become a major source of financial fraud with $20 billion in crypto stolen in 2022 alone. TRM Lab exists to return trust to the blockchain, helping banks, government agencies and crypto companies detect and combat fraud with its blockchain intelligence solutions.
As the risk of blockchain fraud is only increasing, with the proceeds often being used for organized crime, there are a number of companies working in this space. TRM stands out with the breadth of its crypto asset coverage and the strength of its cross-chain analytics. It has partnered with the FBI and Europol to aid its investigations, and is also used by major crypto companies MoonPay and Binance.
The company has grown its revenue by almost 500% year on year since its founding in 2018, and has raised a significant amount of capital. With the funding its secured, its further developing its product and hiring additional talent. And as businesses and government agencies increasingly come to grips with fraud in the crypto space, TRM is well poised to continue its rapid growth.
