Who you are
- 8+ years of experience in a Product Design role
- Exceptional craft and attention to detail in visual design, interaction design, and prototyping
- Expertise in prototyping tools to showcase complex features and web flows
- Customer obsession with extensive experience leveraging UX research for foundational insights and iterative design
- Ability to measure impact through both quantitative metrics and qualitative insights
- Excellent collaboration skills with partners including designers, researchers, PMs, data scientists, and engineers
- Ownership mindset with a proactive approach to independently driving projects and teams
Desirable
- Experience delivering work across the full customer lifecycle from acquisition through retention and churn
- Experience balancing incremental improvements, visionary goals, and step-change enhancements of a mature product
- Experience creating or contributing to design systems
What the job involves
- In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Product Managers to transform business challenges and product hypotheses into tangible, quantifiable, and solvable customer problems.
- You’ll be empowered to design effective solutions and deliver elegant user experiences through close partnership with cross-functional peers.
- You’ll work hand-in-hand with Engineers to bring these solutions to life, ensuring a seamless and high-quality execution
- Translate complex concepts and requirements into intuitive, accessible, and engaging user experiences
- Develop and iterate on wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to communicate design ideas and user flows
- Launch experiments with a focus on customer and business impact. Incorporate learnings into future work
- Actively participate in regular design team critiques pursuing the highest standards of aesthetic and interaction quality
- Conduct user research and usability testing to gather insights and inform design decisions
- Stay informed of industry trends and emerging technologies
Our take
Dropbox started by helping people bring together their files in one central place. The contents of these folders are synchronised to Dropbox's servers along with other computers and devices where the user has installed Dropbox, keeping the same files up-to-date across all devices.
Nowadays, there are lots of competing companies in cloud storage, and some with better distribution (e.g. Google and Apple). This explains why Dropbox is making a big push to reinvent itself after a fairly disappointing run since its IPO in 2018. The new Dropbox turns folders into "Spaces", which are collaboration hubs for teams, complete with comment streams, artificial intelligence tools and integrations into services such as Slack.
The company continues to build out its offerings through acquisitions, such as that of Formswift, bolstering its end-to-end agreement workflow capabilities. Indeed, It's very clear that Dropbox is trying to make a big move from being just a storage company. This seems to be a necessary move given the competitive nature of the industry it is operating within.
