Role
Who you are
- We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used—so we’re looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities
- The ideal candidate has 10+ years of experience in power electronics design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testing
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- 10+ years of experience in power electronics design including schematic capture, PCB layout, and testing
- Expertise in solar power, voltage regulation, load management, fault protection, power transmission, analog instrumentation, and digital circuits
- Skilled at schematic capture and layout of complex PCBAs
- Skilled at performing circuit analyses in SPICE and Excel
- Proficiency with basic electronic lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMMs, signal generators, soldering iron, etc
- Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment
Desirable
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience designing for space environments including radiation impacts and mitigation
- Proficiencywith Altium Designer
- Experience designing rigid-flex PCBs and general electro-mechanical design familiarity
- FPGA design skills
- Scripting skills in Python, Tcl, etc
What the job involves
- The Staff Power Electrical Engineer will participate in all aspects of the development and test of avionics hardware for E-Space satellites
- This position will report to the Director of Electrical Engineering and will work closely with the Electrical, Software, and Systems Engineering teams
- Own the development of a spacecraft solar-battery charging system from clean sheet to flight
- Develop and implement PCBA requirements, use-cases, and system integration
- Schematic capture and PCBA layout for solar power, voltage regulation, load management, fault protection, power transmission, telemetry, and other circuits using Altium Designer
- Circuit analysis including power related, SWaP, tolerance, and reliability related
- PCBA design verification testing, qualification testing, and system integration testing
- Lead design reviews for inter-disciplinary audiences
- Manufacturing and flight support as needed
- As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving our success
- This means that there will be times when extra hours, including nights and weekends, may be needed to meet critical deadlines and mission goals
Our take
Designed with a vision to democratize space, E-Space will provide custom networks for companies and governments so that entities can access space without high costs but with zero trust topology for cybersecurity.
Critics will look for the cost this sort of project will have on the environment but E-Space has built sustainability into every aspect of the business. The satellites are designed to actively and sacrificially capture and deorbit small debris in space whilst the constellation will be launched into small cross sections to reduce vulnerability to collisions.
Following the company’s ‘Beta 1’ launch of its test satellites as well as the second ‘Beta 2’ launch, the company is exploring mass production. E-Space also acquired CommAgility and intends to integrate its source code into a network of potentially hundreds of thousands of connectivity satellites.
