Who you are
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of software development experience, including programming with modern compiled languages such as Go, Rust, Java, C# or C++
- Cloud Expertise: Proven ability to design and scale fault-tolerant distributed systems and develop managed cloud services
- Technical Proficiency: Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, microservices, and infrastructure tools like Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and CI/CD systems
- Security-First Mindset: Strong knowledge or background in security such as encryption, authentication, authorization, credential management, RBAC, service meshes, TLS, mTLS or zero-trust architectures
- Collaboration Skills: Ability to work with cross-functional teams to align priorities and deliver customer-first solutions
- Mentorship Abilities: Experience guiding engineers, improving hiring and onboarding processes, and driving team growth
- Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to articulate complex ideas and align technical solutions with customer needs
What the job involves
- We are seeking seasoned Senior+ Software Engineers to design, build, and scale Crusoe Cloud’s next-generation identity and access control platforms
- The Identity & Access Management (IAM) team provides the foundational security bedrock that both internal teams and external customers rely on to secure their platforms
- Our mission is to provide a secure, intuitive, and comprehensive system for managing identity lifecycles, fine-grained authorization, user-facing and service-to-service authentication
- Your work will focus on delivering highly scalable and reliable services that will be on the hot-path for every request in our cloud
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable IAM services that secure our cloud infrastructure
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, like product, design, and security to evaluate tools, frameworks, and customer needs, creating innovative solutions that differentiate Crusoe Cloud
- Design and build solutions to complex authentication and authorization scenarios at the platform level
- Design, build, and maintain the authorization model for accessing Crusoe Cloud resources
- Contribute to architectural decisions that support security, reliability and maintainability across the company
- Mentor engineers, enhance hiring practices, perform code reviews and contribute to building a strong, inclusive engineering culture
- Design and Deliver Customer Solutions: Build scalable, reliable cloud services, such as user access management, Gateways, user features, and notification systems, tailored to customer needs
- Focus on Customer Empowerment: Partner with customer success and operations teams to create intuitive tools that enhance the end-user experience
- Automate and Optimize: Develop automation software that simplifies infrastructure deployment and management for seamless customer operations
- Innovate: Implement features that differentiate Crusoe Cloud, focusing on operational efficiency, low-touch adoption, turn-key AI services and scalability
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with cloud support, engineering, and site reliability teams to align technical solutions with customer feedback and operational goals
- Mentor and Lead: Guide engineers through design discussions, code reviews, and best practices, fostering a culture of technical excellence and customer-centricity
Our take
Methane, that is mostly generated by flaring in the oil and gas industry, is a major contributor to global warming - as are the carbon emissions produced by global computing (especially bitcoin mining.) Crusoe Energy Systems reduces flaring, and repurposes waste natural gas into energy for these processes, thus removing methane from the atmosphere and simultaneously reducing the carbon footprint of computing.
Crusoe's mobile data centers can be deployed to generate power from methane waste at its source. As well as its patented Digital Flare Mitigation system, Crusoe is also working to enable alternative revenue streams for renewable and clean energy projects, with the ultimate aim to run data centers on renewable energy.
The company has connections with Kraken Oil & Gas, Devon Energy, Enerplus, and more; and its computing power is used by institutes such as MIT. The rising pressure to take action on climate change, coupled with the need for high-energy computing as more infrastructure moves online, has placed it in a massive industry. With the capability of its systems to reduce the equivalent of 8,000 tonnes per year of CO2 and 2023 debt financing amounting to $200 million in investment, Crusoe Energy Systems is well positioned to make an impact and drive for further success.
