Role
Who you are
- BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience across the full stack
- Solid proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, TypeScript) and backend languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, Rust, Go)
- Experience handling real-time data on the frontend (e.g., WebSockets, SSE) and managing application state
- Good understanding of API design (REST/GraphQL), relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), and caching layers (e.g., Redis)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and modern development workflows (Git)
- Able to leverage AI coding assistants to increase velocity while fully understanding and taking ownership of all code you commit
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset to thrive in a fast-paced team environment
Desirable
- Experience with web-based mapping and visualization libraries (e.g., Mapbox, MapLibre)
- Experience with real-time audio consumption workflows, including Opus decoding, browser audio rendering APIs, and managing multi-channel live audio streams via LiveKit/WebRTC
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and basic Kubernetes concepts
- Exposure to event-driven architectures or streaming systems
- A deep interest or background in aerospace, aviation, or autonomous systems

What the job involves
- As a Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack, you will develop, maintain, and scale both the user-facing web applications and the core backend APIs that power our cutting-edge products. You will bridge the gap between our real-time data pipelines and intuitive user interfaces, ensuring a seamless experience for our users.
- Develop and maintain responsive front-end applications and the robust backend APIs that support them
- Implement real-time data streaming features to visualize dynamic data on maps and dashboards
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Backend, Data Science, and DevOps teams to integrate AI models into the user experience
- Participate in the full development lifecycle—from coding and code reviews to deployment and feature monitoring
- Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, and thoroughly tested code across the entire stack
- Monitor application performance, troubleshoot bugs, and assist in root cause analysis for production issues
Our take
With traffic, noise, and emissions becoming major challenges for urban life, Archer is building electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, led by its flagship model, Midnight, offering a cleaner, quieter alternative to traditional short-haul travel. The idea is simple: replace long car rides with quick, sustainable flights that lift off vertically, fly over the gridlock, and help reduce urban pollution. It's a bold shift in transportation, but one that could meaningfully change how we navigate cities in the years ahead.
Midnight is designed to make these short flights practical, safe, and efficient. Its electric powertrain significantly reduces noise and emissions compared to helicopters (one of the biggest barriers to adopting urban air mobility at scale). However, eVTOLs face hurdles before becoming an everyday reality, including regulatory approvals, infrastructure build-out, and the operational testing needed to prove long-term safety and reliability. Archer is addressing these challenges with major manufacturing investment, deep engineering partnerships, and ongoing flight testing in the US and abroad.
Even with these barriers, Archer has been moving from success to success. The company is set to be the official air taxi provider for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. And its recent acquisition of Hawthorne Airport in LA will serve as both a launch site and an innovation hub for next-generation, AI-powered aviation operations. On the commercial side, Archer's partnerships with United Airlines and its growing international presence signal strong industry confidence. Combined with newly expanded funding and successful long-range flight tests, Archer sure is a promising player in eVTOl aviation.
