Company mission
To democratize finance for all.
Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including a track record of delivering large-scale distributed systems in production
- Expertise in backend development with Go, Python, or Java, and deep familiarity with cloud-native architecture (Kafka, Postgres, Kubernetes, or equivalents)
- Strong instincts for correctness-critical systems - idempotency, reconciliation, and reasoning carefully about failure modes when money is at stake
- Demonstrated ownership of ambiguous, cross-functional projects, with the judgment to make tradeoffs and drive alignment
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction beyond your own projects
- Working knowledge of blockchain fundamentals - EVM, smart contracts, wallets, on-chain settlement - or a strong appetite to go deep quickly
What the job involves
- The Tokenization team's mission is to bring both public and private equity to be tradable 24/7 on decentralized exchanges (DEXs) across the Robinhood Chain
- We work at the intersection of blockchain technology, financial market infrastructure, and modern distributed systems - with a focus on accessibility, security, and scalability. Equity markets have been closed nights and weekends for a century; we're building the infrastructure that changes that
- As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design and build the core systems that issue, custody, and settle tokenized equities on-chain and keep them in sync with traditional brokerage and ledger systems
- You'll lead technically complex projects end to end, make architectural decisions on a foundational Robinhood initiative, and work in a domain where correctness is non-negotiable - the systems you build move real customer assets, continuously, across multiple chains and jurisdictions
- Design, build, and operate the backend services that mint, custody, and settle tokenized equities across leading blockchains, with correctness and auditability as hard requirements
- Own large, technically complex projects end to end - design, implementation, rollout, and operating what you ship in a 24/7 system
- Build the connective tissue between traditional market infrastructure (brokerage, ledgers, corporate actions) and on-chain systems, including smart contract integrations, chain indexers, and DEX trade flows
- Partner with product, compliance, legal, and platform teams to turn regulatory constraints into workable system design
- Raise the technical bar through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on mentorship
Our take
For years, traditional brokers ruled the share trading realm, charging hefty fees that locked out everyday investors. Robinhood emerged as a disruptor, offering commission-free trading and opening the door to a new generation. Since then, expectations have continued to evolve, with investors looking not just to lower costs, but for simpler tools, clearer information, and guidance that makes the market easier to understand.
Robinhood was built to meet those changing expectations, designed from the start as a mobile-first platform that makes investor more accessible and less intimidating for people at every stage of their financial journey. Through its app, users can trade stocks and other financial instruments while benefiting from a clean interface and built-in educational support, helping them move from curiosity to confidence without unnecessary complexity.
Recently, Robinhood has strenghtned its impact too, particularly in the UK. With the launch of AI-powered Digests within its Robinhood Cortex assistant that helps users understand what's driving stock movements in plain English, while upcoming options trading and expanded educational resources add flexibility and depth. Together, these steps position Robinhood as a platform evolving alongside its users, blending technology and education to stay ahead in an ever-changing investment landscape.
