Who you are

8+ years of Android development experience
Proficiency in Kotlin and the Android SDK
Experience working with RESTful APIs to integrate backend services
Knowledge of Android UI, threading, memory management fundamentals
BS/MS degree in Computer Science or equivalent field
Familiarity with dependency injection frameworks like Dagger
Proficiency creating modern applications with frameworks such as Jetpack Compose
Contributions to open source Android libraries and tools
Experience with integrating native code into android applications using JNI or similar technologies
Experience developing real-time features with WebSockets and developing with Kotlin coroutines
Passion for writing maintainable, tested code and pushing the platform forward

What the job involves

We are looking for an experienced Android Engineer to support our Product Engineering efforts
As one of the founding mobile engineers you will be instrumental in Anthropic's missing to build safe, reliable, and beneficial AI systems across mobile platforms
Develop and iterate on core mobile application features and flows
Write stable, testable, and reusable Kotlin code
Implement pixel-perfect UI/UX designs across Android devices and OS versions
Diagnose and fix bugs and performance issues
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, test, release, and maintain mobile features

Our take

Funded by Google and founded by ex-OpenAI employees, Anthropic is an AI company focused on building a reliable, innovative AI system. While the company is relatively new to the market it has already launched a highly anticipated AI chat assistant called Claude which is set to rival OpenAI's ChatGPT.

Similar to other chatbots, Claude is accessible through a chat interface and can provide a number of conversation and text-processing tasks. A key point of differentiation is that Claude is designed to produce less harmful outputs than that of the other chatbots that came before it.

While there is much praise for the chat assistant, there is still room for improvement with feedback reporting that Claude is worse at maths and grammar compared to its rival. However, with industry giants like Google backing this company from an early stage, and a monumental Series F round of $13 billion awarded in 2025, the company is planning to enhance Claude and expand its presence in Europe. What's more, Anthropic's commitment to "Constitutional AI" positions it as a leader in the responsible development of artificial intelligence.
