Who you are
- Scripting experience: Bash, Python, GoLang
- Infrastructure Experience: Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation
- At least 5 years experience with AWS (Azure or GCP is fine too although AWS is preferred)
- At least 4 years Container / Container Orchestration experience (Docker, ECS, EKS, Rancher, Kubernetes, etc)
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes
- Experience deploying containers into highly automated and/or regulated AWS environments
- Strong application security experience (bonus points if you’ve done so within a regulated environments)
- Experience defining and deploying secure IAM access controls across hub-and-spoke architectures, with a strong understanding of federated protocols
- Proactiveness around researching and adopting best practices; driven by ensuring continuous improvements
- Security awareness (access controls, deep packet inspection, security groups, network ACLs)
- Understanding of Microservice Architecture / Mesh technologies and how to deploy/manage them
- Strong problem-solving, communication and analytical skills
What the job involves
- Senior Platform Engineer responsibilities include deploying product updates, identifying issues and implementing integrations and features that meet customer needs
- Empower developers to take ownership of the operation, security, performance and availability of their services
- Design, write and deliver secure software that improves the lives of our engineers and the scalability of our platform
- Drive ownership and rollout of our Platform roadmap (working with the Head of Platform Engineering)
- Take part in our on-call rota
- Creating and delivering well-scoped tickets to provision and configure infrastructure, pipeline and platform requirements
- Interested in the root cause of incidents and outages and improving our time between incidents and MTTR
- Comfortable in automating processes and constantly finding new areas to automate or make more efficient
- Mentoring/upskilling junior members of the team
- Maintenance and patching of our AWS estate
- Tracking incidents, occurrences and MTTR
- Deployment frequency and failure rate tracking
- Dashboards and management information

- Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Start your weekend early!)
