Role
Who you are
- Experience building and supporting highly available, multi-region production infrastructure
- Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable, and collaborative code to create tools, services, and systems that support scalable infrastructure
- Experience deploying, securing, and scaling Kubernetes clusters servicing production workloads, strongly emphasizing automation and observability
- Experience administering and optimizing cloud resources on standard cloud providers (preferably Azure) using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
- An interest in improving your craft by using AI
- You have strong opinions that are loosely held, and foster that same attitude in others
- Open-mindedness and low ego
- Growth mindset when it comes to process improvement and new technologies, especially AI
Desirable
- C# or another Object Oriented language
- Azure resources with Terraform or Pulumi
- AKS clusters in production
- Azure CLI or PowerShell
- Windows and/or Linux hosts
- Building observability dashboards and monitoring with tools like DataDog
- SQL Server, Azure SQL, or ElasticSearch
What the job involves
- We are on a mission to transform the legal experience for all, and our engineering team’s goal is to deliver an incredible experience to our customers
- To enable that experience, our Systems Engineering teams strive to build performant, reliable, and scalable infrastructure to support Clio SMB and enterprise customers, as well as empower our engineering teams to do their best work
- Build tools and automate processes to support Clio’s production infrastructure
- Collaborate with engineering teams to solve cross-disciplinary architectural scaling challenges
- Partner with product feature teams to define requirements and implement the infrastructure to power new product launches
- Share knowledge across the department to level up our understanding and improve our processes
Our take
Modern law firms increasingly manage their work digitally but the lack of a specialized remote solution means that workflows have become fragmented. This leads to legal practice managers having to juggle multiple software solutions across various devices.
Clio provides a legal practice management platform designed for law firms, allowing users to manage billing for legal aid cases, access and manage documents and store files across multiple devices. Whilst other startups are operating in this niche, Clio has uniquely focussed on synchronisation across remote devices and on a wide range of integrations, allowing the user to access information from other industry standard software such as Xero and Klyant from within a single interface.
Clio has raised significant funding and benefited from the COVID-era shift toward cloud technologies. More recently, the company has experienced rapid growth following the integration of AI into its platform in 2023. Alongside this, it surpassed $200M in annual recurring revenue (ARR) in mid-2024 and has since grown to an impressive $500M ARR. The company was valued at $5B following a $500M funding round in 2025, with the investment supporting further AI development and platform expansion.
