Who you are
- Updater, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Fullstack Software Engineer with a strong background in user experience (UX) design to join the Customer Pod team within the MoveHQ division of Updater
- Develop and Enhance User Interfaces: You will play a key role in the design and development of user-centric interfaces for Updater’s products, ensuring a seamless and intuitive user experience that leverages your strong skills in React and TypeScript
- Integrate Frontend with Backend Systems: Utilize GraphQL to facilitate effective data handling and state management between the frontend and backend, ensuring smooth and scalable application functionality
- Enhance System Usability and Performance: Work closely with UX designers and backend developers to enhance application usability and performance. Your contributions will directly impact the user satisfaction and overall success of our products
- Lead UX Initiatives: As a senior member with a focus on UX, guide the integration of UX best practices within the development process, mentoring junior engineers and advocating for user-centered design principles
- Collaborate on Product Development: Participate in product strategy discussions, bringing your technical expertise and UX perspective to the planning and execution of new features
- Experienced Fullstack Developer: You have a robust background in web development with at least 5 years of experience, including substantial work with React, TypeScript, and familiarity with GraphQL. Experience with Ruby is also required to manage fullstack integration effectively
- UX Design Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to incorporate UX design principles into product development, with a keen eye for creating engaging and effective user interfaces
- Proven Track Record: Your portfolio includes successfully launched products that demonstrate your ability to solve complex software engineering problems with user-centric solutions
- Testing and Automation Skills: You are proficient with modern testing frameworks and automation tools, ensuring that new features are reliable and maintainable
- Agile Methodology Expertise: Well-versed in agile development practices, you are capable of leading within this framework and contributing to the continuous improvement of our processes
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate UX design concepts and technical challenges to a variety of stakeholders, enhancing collaborative development efforts

Our take
Updater’s app allows home movers to take care of every aspect of relocation by arranging the physical logistics of the move itself. Where it sets itself apart however are its features for transferring utilities such as water and gas, home insurance as well as TV and internet connections, and even mail forwarding.
The app is already used by over 25% of home-movers in the US, which establishes Updater as a clear market leader. It has accrued a strong reputation as a more premium end-to-end moving experience as it is an "invite-only" service.
Recent funding led by Vista Credit Partners, taking total investment to higher than $400M, will be used as growth capital. The company will invest in accelerating research and development, launching new products and user features, whilst expanding into more industry verticals to really cement its leading position.
