Role
Who you are
- 10+ years of total experience with at least 4 years designing and managing complex cloud infrastructure platforms in AWS
- 4+ years hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, CDK, Pulumi, CloudFormation)
- Strong DevSecOps expertise: CI/CD pipelines, GitOps, container security, and automation
- Deep understanding of cloud networking: VPC, Direct Connect, Transit Gateways, VPN, hybrid connectivity
- Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Go, or Bash)
- Proven track record in building secure container images and managing container registries
- Ability to drive technology standardisation and automation initiatives at scale
- Strong documentation and communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Leadership mindset with the ability to influence and guide cross-functional teams
- Problem-solving orientation with focus on building reusable, scalable solutions
- Expert-level knowledge of AWS services (EC2, Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.)
- Experience with DevOps tools: Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, Artifactory, or equivalent
- Strong understanding of IaaS and PaaS architectural patterns
- Experience implementing monitoring and observability solutions (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Knowledge of security best practices, compliance frameworks, and cloud governance
Desirable
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional certification
- GCP experience and certification
- Experience building cloud landing zones and multi-account strategies
- Background in financial services or regulated industries
- Experience with Kubernetes administration in cloud and hybrid environments

- Our Cloud Platform Team is instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud infrastructure in AWS and GCP, while creating tools that empower other teams to work more efficiently. We serve as key technical enablers, building automation and self-service capabilities that streamline operations across the organisation
- Our Cloud Platform Team thrives on making complex systems accessible to others, with a passion for removing technical barriers and enabling teams to focus on their core objectives rather than infrastructure challenges
- We're seeking a Senior Cloud Platform Engineer who's passionate about building the cloud foundation that powers innovation at scale. You'll build and automate our multi-cloud platform (AWS, GCP), creating the self-service tools and landing zones that enable hundreds of developers to ship faster, safer, and smarter
- Manage the cloud environments, formalise them using IAC, and connect with the on-prem infrastructure
- Provide tools for continuous delivery, management, and audit of the AWS/GCP cloud
- Create automation of repetitive processes, and hand them over to the development teams
- Design and implement automated cloud infrastructure provisioning and management processes
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and DevOps toolchains for accelerated software delivery
- Develop Infrastructure as Code templates using Terraform, CDK, or similar tools
- Establish and maintain secure, scalable landing zones in AWS (primary) and GCP
- Create self-service platforms and automation tools for internal development teams
- Define and implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to solve complex technical challenges
- Ensure cloud security best practices and compliance requirements are met
- Document technical architectures, processes, and runbooks for knowledge sharing
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members

Founded in 1974 by Stuart Wheeler as a UK-based spread betting company for gold, IG Group, abbreviated from Investors Gold Index, was initially set up to allow people to speculate and trade on the price change of gold without owning physical gold. And in the year 2000, it was listed on the London Stock Exchange and its gradual evolution into the world of fintech began.

During the latter half of that decade, IG shut down its binary options trading platform and focused instead on building an investment portfolio with partner BlackRock Investments, all whilst maintaining its Forex and CFD trading processes. Since then, it has become a fast-paced market leader in the investment space.
In recent years, IG Group has developed major platforms for various trading actions and has grown profit and revenue significantly. Alongside this it has acquired a number of companies, including tastytrade and Freetrade, and launched its own crypto product, making it the first UK-listed company to launch crypto trading to retail investors. This further proves how much of a staple IG Group is in the world of financial trading.
