Who you are
- Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 4 years of experience in software engineering (Internship experience does not apply)
Desirable
- 3+ years writing microservices using Java, Kotlin, or NodeJS
- 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks (such as: Spring Boot, NestJS)
- 2+ years of experience building iOS (Swift) or Android (Kotlin) applications
- 3+ years of experience in Agile practices
- 2+ years of experience with AWS
What the job involves
- As a Capital One Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One
- Partner with Software Engineers, UX/UI, Quality Engineers, Product Owners/Analysts to deliver high performing quality customer experiences that are engaging, purposeful and powerful in their simplicity
- Collaborate with digital product managers, and deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences to help millions of people achieve financial empowerment
- Utilize programming languages like JavaScript, TypeScript, Java, Kotlin
- Interact with databases built with SQL and Open Source RDBMS solutions
- Implement, manage and maintain container orchestration services including Docker with ECS Fargate, and a variety of other AWS tools and services
- Be an active advocate of the mobile platform through both internal and external developer communities
- Remain an active learner in all technologies related to mobile development (Kotlin, Swift 3rd party libraries, etc.)
- Influence and contribute to group discussions and incorporate feedback/communication from the broader team
- Mentor junior to mid-level members of the team
- Actively engage with developers outside of the local sprint team across various disciplines (Android, iOS, APIs, Web, etc.)
- Own and lead delivery of major components and platform needs in partnership with Senior Engineers and Architects
- Share your passion for staying on top of tech trends, experimenting with and learning new technologies, participating in internal & external technology communities, mentoring other members of the engineering community
- Identify technical obstacles early and work closely with the team to find creative solutions
- Review pull requests and ensure adherence to community best practices
