Role
Who you are
- An experienced Engineering Manager who has developed server-side software with Node.js or a similar language
- Comfortable designing production infrastructure and implementing your ideas, leveraging technologies from service providers like AWS and Cloudflare. (It would be a bonus if you’ve got experience using a tool like Terraform to build infrastructure as code, although it’s not necessary.)
- Passionate about making products that people love

- We’re looking for an Infrastructure Engineering Manager to lead the charge on performance, reliability, and internal tools at ReadMe!
- You’ll manage a team responsible for making sure our site is fast, stable, and scales beautifully, while also empowering our developers with the tools they need to build their best work.
- If you're looking for a player-coach role where you can lead a team and still write code, this is the role for you!
- Lead a team that designs and builds infrastructure and tooling to make sure ReadMe’s data storage is fast, reliable, and secure
- Help expand the tooling for our observability platform to ensure that developers can make good use of logging, metrics, and alerts
- Add features to Deploybert — our internal automation system for deploying code to production — to support new services and expand its capabilities
- Come up with ideas around what ReadMe’s infrastructure should look like, and communicate them to your coworkers
- Collaborate with other engineers and people around ReadMe

- If we think we might be a good fit for you, we’ll set up a 30 minute phone chat with the hiring manager! They’ll tell you more about the role, and get a chance to hear about your experiences
- We’ll then do a technical assessment with a couple of ReadMe’s engineers
- Then we’ll invite you to an "onsite" interview conducted over Zoom! These usually take 3.5 to 5 hours including an hour break in between. We are able to be flexible with the schedule and split it up over two days if that works best for you! We start with a 15-minute get-to-know-you so you can meet the people you’ll be working with, and then have you talk with people one-on-one later on
- We’ll let you know how things went within a week! If it still seems like a good fit all around, we’ll extend you an offer! If not, we will update you to let you know so you aren’t left hanging

ReadMe is a platform powering interactive developer hubs that help customers build out their API documentation. They allow developers to make calls faster while quickly troubleshooting issues along the way to provide teams with the highest-impact improvements.
The company was part of the Y Combinator Winter 2015 cohort and since then it has grown steadily and profitably by working with over 3,000 companies, including Microsoft, Coinbase, Notion, and Afterpay. Because the company worked with such big names from an early stage, it focused primarily on developing its API logs to create more dynamic documentation, putting the startup in a prime position for further expansion.
