Role
Who you are
- Experience with C++17 and ideally C++20 but we are open to people learning the newer features if you have knowledge of C++17
- Practical knowledge in the construction of (variadic) templates, multi-threading, and co-routines
- In-depth knowledge about the inner workings of the GNU/Linux operating system, including aspects such as memory-management, scheduling, inter-process communication, networking, and common user-land tools and libraries
- Background in cmake and at least one test framework in C++ alongside experience with Boost and Git
Desirable
- Practical knowledge of AWS or any other cloud platform
- Experience dealing with IO operations
- Experience designing querying engines for structured or unstructured data
- Exposure to large storage systems in the mid-high Terabyte to Petabyte range
- Knowledge of data infrastructure tools or topics such as Data Lakes
- Experience SIMD-based acceleration on CPUs (e.g. using AVX, AVX2, AVX512, Neon, SVE, or AltiVec)

- This is a fantastic opportunity to join at a pivotal moment of our growth with the chance to work on modern C++ in a highly experienced development team with backgrounds in HPC, Distributed Databases and Data Science
- We are working with C++20-23, something of a rarity outside of research centres and Big Tech environments
- Depending on your background this role will involve a mixture of working closely on storage backend alongside API interfaces to allow our customers to seamlessly integrate UltiHash into their existing data infrastructures
Our take
The exponential increase in data storage requirements has created a dilemma for businesses, where existing solutions often force a comprise between high costs and low performance. UltiHash recognises the environmental toll of this data explosion and seeks to break the compromise between scalability and affordability.
UltiHash's technology introduces byte-level deduplication, in which redundant data of all types can be eliminated across datasets. This mitigates the need for massive increases in storage capacity, reducing companies' storage needs by a reported up to 50%. This in turn mitigates unnecessary storage and network costs, and facilitates the growth of high-performance applications including machine learning models, business intelligence, and product engineering.
