Role
Who you are
- We are looking for people who are passionate about delivering self-driving (L4) products that make the way we move safer, faster, and more efficient
- We seek mission-driven, highly skilled people with deep experience in fast-paced, rapidly growing, tech development environments
- Demonstrated experience with building perception systems using lidar, camera and/or radar data
- Expertise in learning frameworks such as Tensorflow, Caffe, JAX, and/or PyTorch
- Ideally, exposure to ROS or related libraries
- Exposure to CUDA / Parallel programming
- Hands-on coding and system integration - largely in C++
- Production experience in modern C++
- Exposure to / experience with Python, Go, iOS is a plus
- Knowledge and experience of advanced probabilistic algorithms, real-time algorithms, and machine learning approaches
- Experience in experimentation, testing, and design iteration of complex systems
- Experience developing, specifying and/or validating simulation-based testing technologies for autonomous, robotics, or other complex integrated systems

- With customers at its core, Stack AV is focused on revolutionizing the way businesses transport goods, designing solutions to alleviate long-standing issues that have plagued the trucking industry including driver shortages, lagging efficiency in uptime per vehicle, overarching safety concerns, high operating costs, and elevated emission levels
- By building safe and efficient autonomous trucking solutions, Stack AV is creating better and smarter supply chains for its partners, improving business outcomes for its customers, delivering goods to end-users faster, and ultimately moving the trucking industry forward
- Bring the system to life with teammates
- Identify bottlenecks and limitations in system performance, and develop novel components to unlock new improved capabilities and reliability
- Adhere to best practices with respect to, CI/CD, quality, and development practices
Our take
Driver shortages, decelerating efficiency and broad safety concerns have plagued the US trucking industry for some time now. High operating costs paired with increasingly scrutinised high emissions are leading to concern over the future of the logistics and goods transport market. Stack AV’s autonomous trucking solution aims to lighten the load on these issues, utilising AI to build smart supply chains and autonomous driving systems.
Its founding team has long been exploring the possibilities of autonomous transport through combined experience with Uber and Google smart cars and shared founding roles at Argo AI. This similar company disbanded in 2022 after it failed to become profitable for shareholders. Hopefully, however, the launch of Stack AV will balance the founders' decades of experience and the hard lessons learnt from the failed predecessor company, opening the road to new ways to make autonomous driving tech a sustainable investment.
With a staggering $1 billion investment from SoftBank in 2023, the company is well-armoured for the time being. Its main competitor is Aurora, which underwent a successful IPO in 2021 but never achieved this high level of early funding. It’s a promising start, then for the Argo AI veterans' venture.
