Who you are
- The ideal candidate will have strong analytical, project management, and presentation skills, with an ability to communicate and influence others
- If you love telling stories with data, building scalable systems, and working across many departments in a company, this role is for you
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related analytical field. Advanced degree is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in business operations, analytics, or a similar role involving process improvement and data analysis. Experience in management consulting or related fields is a plus
- Strong analytical skills with proven experience in working with large datasets to drive business insights and decision-making. Advanced proficiency in Excel/Google Sheets and familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools (e.g., Looker)
- Demonstrated ability to improve and scale operational processes, with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives or process improvement efforts
- Experience in developing and implementing strategies to drive operational efficiency and improve key metrics such as workforce planning, coach or employee performance, or gross margin
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, balancing short-term problem-solving with long-term scalability and continuous improvement
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, from conception through execution

What the job involves
- We are looking for an entrepreneurial individual to join our fast paced and dynamic Care Operations (CareOps) team
- As a Business Operations Associate Manager, you will be the engine behind our ability to scale, working directly with our cross-functional stakeholders to deliver efficient, high-quality patient care
- You will take a data-driven approach to inform major business decisions, with a particular focus on care delivery optimization and workforce strategy
- We are seeking a self-starter that can wear multiple hats while juggling a variety of projects
- Process Excellence: Continuously audit and improve coaching workflows and patient care delivery model to drive operational excellence
- Scaling Strategy: Develop strategies to scale operations, anticipating growth needs and optimizing processes for larger patient volumes, including collaborating with the Product team on automation and workflow improvements
- Pilot & Experiment: Design and lead operational experiments. Define success metrics, run pilots, and build the "playbook" to scale successful initiatives
- Cross-Functional Bridge: Lead initiatives across Data Science, Product, and Finance to ensure our coaching services are both clinically effective and financially sustainable
- Performance Metrics: Conduct advanced analysis to define and track KPIs such as coach performance, patient outcomes, and patient retention
- Data Visibility: Shape & build dashboards to empower stakeholders to make strategic, data-driven decisions
- Investigative Analysis: Own exploratory analyses that identify ways to further boost coach efficiency, member outcomes, and company scalability
- Strategic Insights: Translate complex data into clear, persuasive presentations for senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to support strategic business decisions
- 90 Day Plan:
- Learn the coaching team's people, processes, and tools by shadowing coaches, studying workflows, and gaining insights into day-to-day operations
- Familiarize yourself with Virta's treatment program, outcomes, and the evolution of our care model to better understand how operations support patient success
- Dive into the available data and systems (e.g., Looker) to become the go-to expert for querying and analyzing data relevant to coaching operations
- Begin building strong relationships with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Data Science, Finance), identifying opportunities for collaboration that will drive operational improvements and scalability
- Collaborate with the Data Science team to understand ongoing projects, priorities, and how these efforts can support operational improvements
- Conduct deep dives into patient engagement and retention metrics, analyzing key drivers and contributing to operational experiments aimed at improving patient outcomes
- Explore gross margin drivers and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while balancing quality of care and scaling needs
Our take
Much of the care for type 2 diabetes has been based on control and prevention, rather than a direct reversal of the issue. Virta Health is changing that, providing patients with personalized treatment plans, virtual monitoring and patient care.
Instead of depending upon medication, which often needs to be increased over time, the company is tackling the problem at its root and taking a fundamentally different approach that is better for the patient, and more economical for insurers. Among enrolled patients in its clinical trial at one year, 60% achieved diabetes reversal.
While other platforms serve similar markets, the large number of prediabetic and diabetic Americans presents a significant opportunity for growth. The company is well-funded and continues to expand the reach of its telehealth-powered diabetes reversal treatment - positioning itself for widespread adoption as it addressies this critical healthcare challenge.
