Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise software engineering (ideally SaaS), with a focus on platform development. Experience in re-architecting systems and leading multi-quarter projects
- Build software with a product-first approach. You ship code quickly and care about the real world impact of your code
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to iterate on feedback and deliver high-impact solutions
- Demonstrated ownership of key platform components, with a focus on product impact and engineering excellence
- Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working in a collaborative, cross-functional environment. Willing to work out of our SF office 3 days a week
- Enthusiasm for diving into complex technical challenges and a keen interest in the life sciences domain, with a willingness to learn and adapt
What the job involves
- The Tenant Lifecycle team builds the platform and tooling for customers and Benchling employees to effectively manage a deployment of Benchling end-to-end
- The team enables the entire lifecycle of a tenant, from creation to management to deletion
- They unlock key workflows, such as enabling customers to test new Benchling features and iterate on their own processes before rolling them out to production environments
- They partner with the infrastructure teams in solidifying the concept of multi-tenancy in our cloud architecture
- As a technical leader on the Tenant Lifecycle team, you'll work with many teams in product and platform, and build the foundational technologies relied on by our customers as well as engineers at Benchling
- Own projects end-to-end, from initial design, to prototype, to large-scale rollout
- Develop and maintain core platform components to ensure scalability, consistency, data integrity, and coverage
- Design and implement backend models and API endpoints for complex scientific workflows
- Work closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate requirements into scalable and efficient software solutions
- Help rapidly scale our product and team. As a member of the engineering team, you'll be an integral part of how we mature our tooling, best practices, engineering processes, and hiring
- Design and implement rich frontend components and architecture. We build and operate one of the largest, richest React applications out there and power complex scientific analyses
- Provide mentorship to fellow engineers, contribute to team growth, and drive improvements in engineering processes and tools
