Who you are

  • 6+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or a related field, with a significant portion of that experience in technology companies, preferably within a fairly dense subject matter
  • Strong media relations skills with an established track record of turning those skills into strong outcomes
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy
  • Highly adaptable and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment without many guardrails

What the job involves

  • The Senior Communications Manager will play a pivotal in shaping and driving PsiQuantum’s communication strategies across various markets to enhance our the company’s brand and reputation, thought leadership, and market presence in the rapidly evolving field of quantum computing
  • The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, an excellent storyteller, and a hands-on communicator with a proven track record in working in dense communication subjects
  • Lead communications around PsiQuantum’s technical roadmap and progress as well as PsiQuantum’s growing quantum applications and solutions efforts
  • Drive media relations in the US with a focus on the Chicago/Illinois market, with a focus on PsiQuantum’s presence across “new” media channels (podcasts, newsletters, YouTube, etc.)
  • Manage day-to-day operaitons with PsiQuantum’s PR agency and serve as the go-to contact for the team, including organizing media outreach campaigns and setting KPIs for all media activities
  • Help develop messaging materials around PsiQuantum announcements, technical milestones, applications developments and customer engagements
  • Support the evolving Internal Communications efforts at PsiQuantum including partnering on executive communications and internal events
  • Work with PsiQuantum’s Marketing team in developing owned PsiQuantum events

Our take

Quantum computing will change the world more than any other imminent technological development, and PsiQuantum sits at the forefront of the charge to build the first quantum computer that will actually work.

The company is unique for the scale of their ambitions. Rather than focusing on what they term “intermediate milestones” like building smaller proof of concept systems, PsiQuantum builds the first large-scale, error-corrected computer, using photonics to deliver over 1,000,000 qubits (current quantum machines have yet to cross the 1,000 qubit mark).

There are plenty of companies building quantum computers, including the likes of IBM, Google and Honeywell, but these prototypical machines lack the size to correct errors, making them exponentially less useful than what PsiQuantum aims for. While other companies operate in the same sphere, PsiQuantum is unequivocally a leader in its field, founded by world-class academics and raising hundreds of millions in funding to reach unicorn status.
