Who you are
- This is a high impact role at Navan. The backend services the role will build serves customers across the globe. You will get to work with a highly motivated team pushing features at a fast clip. The services are going to be mission critical for our users to pay, book and expense their trips within seconds. The role will support a highly reliable and resilient application. You will be part of continuously improving culture that values craftsmanship and developer productivity
- What You’ll Do:
- Designing and implementing APIs and core services
- Developing models and business logic
- Building out impactful product features
- Ensure the quality of the features you built, follow-up on usage/issues post release
- Work closely with product and design team to deliver new features that align with the needs of the business
- Collaborate with lead engineers to provide technical guidance and support to other team members
- Contribute to frameworks that lead to significant user experience improvements
- Learn from and assist the team in understanding and adopting new technologies
- What We're Looking For:
- Solid programming skills and CS fundamentals combined with 3-5 years of experience building products
- Good understanding of architecture and API design skills to build core services and new product features
- Strong sense of ownership demonstrated through shipping production-quality code equipped with testing, monitoring, and documentation
- Eagerness for solving problems and learning new tools and technologies
- Effective communication skills working with stakeholders and domain experts across the company to design solutions to user problems
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working at startups and/or on consumer-facing products is a plus
- Familiarity with Java, AWS, and/or distributed systems is a plus
- Familiarity with Hibernate or similar ORM technologies is a plus
- Familiarity with Spring Framework is a plus

Navan (formerly known as TripActions) is operating in a crowded marketplace, betting against rivals with similar offerings of user interface personalisation technology. Even so, the company's growth has skyrocketed and it has attracted significant investor interest. Competitors cannot match Navan's cutting-edge, AI-driven services, as well as 24-hour customer support.
Since its founding in 2015 the company has seen significant growth in transactions and in active users. Having expanded from its core travel expense management product, it now offers a corporate card and general expenses management, underwriting its customers' short term business expenses with its own Liquid financial offering. Navan has a list of impressive clients, including Glassdoor, Zoom, and Shopify.
Moving forwards, the company is focused on gaining more reach, especially in Europe. As part of the expanded go-to-market strategy, it rebranded to Navan with a more people-centric design approach. It also combined its travel, corporate card and expense services into a single app which is now available to individual users rather than only through a corporate account. This will be key in bridging the gap between business travel and consumer apps, especially in the lead-up to its reported IPO in the near future.
