Who you are
- You have 5+ years of professional experience working with some combination of Node.js/TypeScript, React (or similar framework), and Postgres (or similar relational database). (Experience with GraphQL is a plus.)

What the job involves
- On Team Horizon, our mission is to take complex financial data and simplify it into intuitive experiences for users at every stage of their financial journey
- We’re a small but high-impact team where engineers are empowered to work closely with Product and Design to craft features that help our users achieve financial prosperity
- Engineers on the team care deeply about implementing elegant solutions that are easy to understand for both the user and fellow engineers who you work with on problems
- Work in a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, and data to implement full stack user facing features at the core of Rocket Money
- Develop with TypeScript across the stack, building user interfaces using React[-Native] and the backend support required to power them with Node.js, GraphQL, and PostgreSQL
- Own complex features end-to-end, from initial product & technical design stages through to production, ensuring the appropriate engineering rigor has been applied for scalability, reliability, and observability
- Help to maintain our high technical bar, participating in code reviews and design discussions to ensure that we're applying appropriate rigor to our software development process
- Support a collaborative and innovative culture by sharing your ideas via RFCs, participating in solution ideation, and giving your peers evaluating feedback on their code and their proposals
Our take
Managing finances has become increasingly difficult in the last couple of decades, despite access to online banking and other financial apps. The mass of subscriptions, standing orders and utility bills the average American is subject to ultimately makes it difficult to assess and manage their finances within one place.
Rocket Money (formerly Truebill) provides a mobile application that includes a variety of tools that aim to simplify financial management. Tools include an automatic subscription tracker which aims to increase transparency and simplicity for canceling unwanted subscriptions, in addition to monthly spending analytics and budgeting plans.
Whilst there seems to be an app for just about every form of financial management, Rocket Money has taken much-needed action by unifying everything into a single app. The company initially focused on financial management tools, it's now branched out to more direct financial tools such as utility bill comparison services, autopilot saving and paycheck advance loans.
