Who you are
- We’re looking for a pragmatic, business-oriented Commercial Legal Counsel who is excited about Clue’s mission and eager to support our growth.
- This role requires an adaptable, hands-on lawyer with strong commercial instincts, sound judgement, and the ability to work cross-functionally with teams across Clue

- You are a proactive, structured legal professional with a strong interest in commercial work, partnerships, B2B business development, and/or health tech
- You enjoy working close to the business and thrive in fast-paced, product-driven environments
- You bring a balance of strategic thinking and practical execution, and you’re comfortable providing clear, actionable advice
- You collaborate easily across teams, take initiative, and enjoy supporting both strategic and operational commercial decisions
- You are a fully qualified lawyer with a focus on commercial and contract law with at least 8+ years of professional experience, ideally including in-house experience and comfortable/licensed with German law
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills with excellent judgment and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to manage legal issues across multiple jurisdictions
- Ideally, experience working in a tech or startup environment—or at minimum, an entrepreneurial mindset and curiosity about mobile app development and digital health
- Fluency in English, written and spoken; German is a plus
What the job involves
- Beyond providing legal review, you will be a true partner to the business, helping structure deals, spotting opportunities and risks early, and ensuring that Clue’s commercial activities are both compliant and strategically aligned
- Act as a key member of Clue’s Legal Team, supporting the business in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements (including partnership, vendor, B2B, research, and marketing contracts)
- Advise cross-functional teams—including Partnerships, Marketing, Product, Operations, and Medical—on commercial law issues and contract strategy
- Provide guidance on international commercial legal questions relevant to our business model and market expansion
- Work closely with our in-house data privacy specialist to ensure commercial activities and partnerships align with global data protection requirements
- Support potential financing, strategic transactions, or M&A activities
Our take
Clue is a femtech app built to offer a tech-based birth control method by tracking the fertility cycle. The company aims to encourage women and people with cycles to understand their bodies through its user-friendly app that offers in-depth information about their health.
Clue differentiates itself through its use of science to provide users with actionable insights regarding their health. Furthermore, it calculates fertility windows based on global averages instead of ovulation data, which makes its results more accurate. The company continues to collaborate with scientists and universities in order to ensure the product is as accurate as possible.
Clue also continues to focus on raising awareness about the importance of tracking periods and ovulation for health and family planning, and, with an increasing amount of research being done in this space, is well-positioned for further growth. The company has not been immune from wider economic effects and cut its staff early in 2023, though this was followed by a successful fundraise that will enable it to expand its product portfolio, scale its digital family planning offering, and invest in research.
