Who you are
- BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent degree or training
- Experience with modern frontend and backend web technologies
- Experience with good software design and modern software engineering practices
- 2 – 6 years of professional software development experience using Python & JavaScript
- Experience with modern databases
- Strong problem-solving ability and experience working within complex systems and large code bases
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting and engage in self-driven learning
- Ability to articulate technical concepts verbally and in writing
- A passion for working on education products and a desire to make them more equitable and accessible

- Experience with web technology

What the job involves
- As a Full Stack Software Development Engineer at Amplify, you will join a fully remote Literacy Assessments engineering team that builds elegant and flexible systems that can quickly respond to design and pedagogy demands
- You will work in cross-functional teams alongside product managers, designers, data scientists and education experts on a variety of impactful projects and have involvement in initiatives from ideation phases through to production release
- Build high-quality, robust, scalable software solutions that help Amplify build and maintain a best-in-class learning platform
- Develop code across front-end and back-end components, including automated tests and related tooling
- Reviewing code from other engineers on the team, bringing your keen eye for pragmatic and elegant solutions to challenging problems
- Collaborate with our DevOps team to develop, manage, and monitor our deployment processes and infrastructure
- Ensuring that our software meets the needs of all students and works reliably in real classrooms. Engaging in proactive testing and monitoring of our systems and guaranteeing a good experience for our end users
- Participating in a collaborative learning environment within Amplify Engineering: reviewing code from other engineers and participating in learning sessions to foster best practices and engineering culture
- Providing tools for teachers and students to effectively assess a child's reading ability
- Creating reports on student assessments with tools and recommendations for improving outcomes
- Improving APIs to allow teacher and administrators' tools to perform to the highest standards of speed and reliability

Since launching as Wireless Generation in the year 2000, before rebranding in 2012 after News Corp acquired the company, Amplify has grown into one of the leading providers of K-12 curricula, assessment and supplemental programs for ELA (English Language Arts), Math and Science.
The EdTech market has been growing rapidly for the last decade and more, and its value is expected to surpass 230 billion by 2030. This growth means that the company has plenty of competition from the likes of Khan Academy and Kaplan Test, but the fact that Amplify is used by around 10 million students puts it in a very strong position.
After a major growth funding round in 2021, Amplify acquired digital math tools developer Desmos. This is in keeping with its commitment to strategically acquire high-performing education companies in order to expand its own tech and product offerings.

LaShon Ormond
