Role
Who you are
- 6+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience across technical and non-technical roles at Series A–D startups (ideally B2C, mobile, or marketplace products)
- Proven ability to design and execute AI-assisted recruiting workflows. You’re fluent or fast-learning in tools like ChatGPT, Juicebox, Glean, Cursor or others
- A systems mindset: you think in terms of scalable workflows, data feedback loops, and process evolution
- Deep care for diversity, equity, and inclusion in every step of the process
- Ability to balance speed and quality. You move fast, but never at the expense of candidate experience
- Strong communication and storytelling skills, both written and verbal
- Comfort with ambiguity, high ownership, and genuine curiosity about how things work
- Bonus: Experience in People Ops or analytics, or a demonstrated interest in building the future of AI + HR systems

What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Recruiter and Talent Acquisition AI Ops Lead who is both a craftsperson and a systems thinker - someone who loves the human side of recruiting and sees how technology, data, and AI can make it faster, fairer, and more human
- This isn’t a typical recruiting role. It’s a chance to help reinvent how recruiting happens in the AI era: to design smarter systems, build automation thoughtfully, help uplevel the collective skills of the team and ensure that the warmth and care of our mission scales with our growth
- You’ll partner closely with the VP of People and our Talent Acquisition Manager to grow our team intentionally and inclusively. Our current hiring system is strong (30-day average time to hire, 95% candidate satisfaction, 90% offer acceptance). Now we want to elevate it into an adaptive, AI-enabled recruiting engine that learns and improves over time
- You’ll join a close-knit People Ops team that values curiosity, judgment, and high ownership. You’ll guide hiring managers to clarity, design processes that balance efficiency with empathy, and help shape how technology supports recruiting, not replaces it

- Strategic Partner to Hiring Managers: Go beyond the job description. You’ll help hiring managers clarify what they truly need, shape the right role design, and define success profiles that connect to real business outcomes
- AI-Driven Systems Builder: You’ll design recruiting systems that continuously learn and improve. You’ll experiment with tools like ChatGPT, Juicebox, Glean, Cursor, and others to streamline sourcing, communication, and data analysis
- Champion of Candidate Experience: You’ll use AI to personalize and scale candidate communication without losing the human touch
- First-Principles Process Designer: You’ll question legacy recruiting practices and rebuild from the ground up. What truly drives efficiency, fairness, and quality? How can we make our systems easier and better for the hiring team?
- Ethical & Inclusive Innovator: You’ll help design systems that are transparent and inclusive by default
- Cultural Experimenter: You’ll nurture a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement
Our take
SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits are used by millions of Americans, but the scheme has long been hampered by a lack of innovation or digitization. Propel offers instant access to balances, plus local offers and discounts, and support in finding work. It also provides a free debit card that can be used for everyday shopping, bills, savings, and online transactions.
Formerly known as Food Stamps, SNAP benefits can be a hassle to use, with some recipients still having to make phone calls to gauge their budget. Propel's users can keep track of and manage their government-provided SNAP benefits from its mobile app, Providers, enabling low-income Americans to make use of this critical safety net more easily.
The Providers app has been used by upwards of 5 million of a potential roughly 40 million people who use SNAP benefits, showcasing both the current reach of the company and how much space it has in which to grow. With a presence in all 50 states, as well as some territories, Propel raised $50 million in 2022 which it is using to expand its debit card services, widening its reach to a growing customer base.
