Role
Who you are
- You have 6+ years of experience in a Paralegal role, preferably within a fast growing SaaS/technology company; public company experience preferred
- You are highly collaborative with a positive attitude, humor, humility and the desire to build, lead and make an impact
- You have exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- You have superior organizational skills, extraordinary attention to detail and a mindset that processes can always be improved
- You are a self-starter and fast learner with the ability to operate independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
- You have excellent technology skills with proficiency in G Suite, Slack, Microsoft Word, Jira and Excel and experience with external data sites, board portals and subsidiary management databases
What the job involves
- You’ll focus on supporting Canva’s global expansion efforts by leading the incorporation/maintenance/dissolution of corporate entities and any associated corporate legal workstreams; you will be able to prioritize independently, with minimal guidance from other members of the corporate legal team
- You’ll also support Canva’s tax, finance, accounting and treasury teams on corporate legal matters including KYC, audit and insurance requests
- You’ll assist in the support of corporate governance and compliance processes, including general record-keeping, preparation of board meeting agendas, presentations, resolutions, consents, minutes and other materials
- You’ll assist the corporate legal team with securities law compliance and filings
- You’ll work with our equity ops lead to support management of Canva’s equity plans and capitalization records
- You’ll drive improvements and synergies by partnering with cross-functional teams, including People, Legal, Finance, Accounting, Tax, and Payroll on various corporate legal matters and processes
- You’ll assist the corporate legal team on acquisitions, financings, secondaries and tender offers
- The Corporate Legal Team specifically works closely with Canva's leadership, Finance, Tax, People and Total Rewards teams (and many more!) across a broad range of projects, helping to empower Canva to meet its crazy big goals
- From supporting our financings, acquisitions and global expansion, to advising our board of directors and managing employee equity, we strive to be collaborative, creative and strategic partners for the business and its stakeholders

Launched in 2013, Canva is a free online visual communications and collaboration platform. It features a vast range of templates including presentations, websites, and social media graphics, plus a huge library of fonts, stock photography, illustrations, video footage, and audio clips.
With the aim to empower 100% of the world to communicate in ways that were once limited to the 1%, Canva was founded on the belief that people shouldn’t need to understand complex software to unlock their creativity. Simplicity is central to Canva’s offering, its straightforward drag-and-drop user interface avoiding complex tools that require training. More recently, Canva has broadened its offerings through a number of acquisitions and now offers a full visual communications platform, featuring stock content, innovative editing features, and data visualization. Zeetings, Pexels & Pixabay, Kaleido, Smartmockups and Flourish have all joined Canva, and the business is well set to continue leading and innovating in the space.
