What the job involves
- Join Bungie’s Central Technology organization, supporting Bungie projects like Destiny and Marathon, and become part of an innovative environment where your expertise can thrive
- As a Senior Software Engineer on our Central Tech Infrastructure team, you will work on distributed build systems, bug processing pipelines, and automated testing services
- You will be part of our Central Tech team, working closely with our game teams to improve their workflows and deliver content to players
- With mentorship from our experts, you will continue to learn to tackle the unique challenges of continuously delivering live service games to our dedicated players
- Design, build, test, and maintain production-quality code
- Repair and improve existing complex systems while minimizing regression risks
- Collaborate daily with your team to create robust, performant, and maintainable solutions
- Help translate team goals into clear, actionable plans
- Participate in a support rotation, during office hours, to ensure seamless operation of live service games
Our take
As one of the leading video game companies in the US, Bungie’s former titles have included bestselling game franchises such as Halo and Destiny, marking it as a next-gen studio that is keeping its finger on the next-gen games console pulse.
Bungie scaled up in the early noughties thanks to an acquisition by Microsoft, leading to a period where Bungie made games for a variety of consoles. In 2022, it was bought by Sony for $3.6 billion, though it claims that it will still work across different platforms despite its owner’s lean towards PlayStation.
Indeed, Sony claims to have bought Bungie for its help in entering the live service games market. In return, Bungie will benefit by scaling up its team for new game and DLC releases. This is a promising direction, although it is worth noting that the underperformance of Destiny 2 has cast a few worries on the nature of Bungie's independent future.
