Role
Who you are
- Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years in a leadership role at a director or senior director level
- Proven experience in mentoring and coaching both product managers and engineers
- You can transform complex business problems into simple elegant technical solutions
- You have a proven track recordv of owning partner tools’ strategy and roadmap
- You know how to build a deep understanding of current and future stakeholder needs
- You build high-caliber, engineering and product teams, with diverse strengths
- You are great at collaborating across engineering teams and internal stakeholders to make build vs buy recommendations
- You have successfully led cross-functional teams across design, product & engineering
- You have exceptional communication skills
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and its configuration (AWS, GCP)
- Partner tools architecture and design expertise
- Some familiarity with code design principles, patterns, and best practices
- Experience with automated testing principles and best-practices
- Understanding of SQL or NoSQL data stores and their applications
- A strong experience with building highly scalable microservices

- Previous experience with partner tools at a major SVOD company

- The Technology Partnerships team at Crunchyroll plays a pivotal role in enhancing and expanding our users' experiences. We collaborate extensively with a diverse network of device, payment, and gaming partners to broaden the reach of Crunchyroll's offerings
- Our primary objective is to drive growth, open up new acquisition channels, and optimize both the scope and quality of our services. Situated at the crossroads of technology and business, we are dedicated to continually enabling experiences that delights our members
- You will specify, develop, and scale the engineering tools and business applications that support streaming, payment and gaming partner engagements, for both internal and external stakeholders
- You enjoy working at the intersection of business and technology, leveraging partners to deliver the best possible experiences to your customers

In recent decades, anime - encompassing Japanese, Korean, and Chinese animation 0 has transitioned from a niche interest to a formidable industry, boasting a global market worth approximately $30B. Despite this growth, distribution has historically posed challenges, with series and films often reaching overseas audiences through disparate channels, if at all. Crunchyroll emerged to address this issue by consolidating the largest collection of anime into a single streaming service.
Sony's acquisition of Crunchyroll in 2021 for $1.75B expanded the platform's reach, integrating Sony's extensive animation library into its offerings. this move also positioned Crunchyroll for heightened competition against streaming giant Netflix, known for its substantial investments in anime production and acquisition. Currently, Crunchyroll maintains an unrivaled library of anime content, boasting over 44,000 episodes that have attracted over 0M paying subscribers.
While Crunchyroll initially offered a free, ad-supported tier to its vast community, it appears poised to phase out this option, transitioning to a subscription-based model for all new series. Despite this shift, the platform has implemented a global reduction in fees to stimulate subscription uptake. The success of this strategy remains to be seen, but past experiences with companies like Hulu suggest that it may drive subscription growth and mitigate piracy
