Role
Who you are
- Constrafor is looking for a passionate and experienced Engineering Manager who is ready to take the next step in their career
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Proven track record of leading and scaling engineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment
- Proficiency in Python, Django, Postgres, and AWS, with a deep understanding of architectural best practices
- Deep understanding of software development, architecture, and engineering best practices
- Strong background in system design, data architecture, and scalable infrastructure
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strategic thinker with the ability to make data-driven decisions and solve complex problems
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
What the job involves
- As the Director of Engineering, you'll be responsible for leading our engineering team alongside our CTO

- You will lead, mentor, and grow our engineering team
- You will be responsible for overseeing the technical direction, development, and delivery of our product suite
- Working closely with the CTO and Product leadership, you’ll ensure that our technology strategy aligns with our business goals and that our product development processes are efficient, scalable, and innovative
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Recruit, hire, and retain top engineering talent
- Manage performance and career development for team members
- Oversee all aspects of product development, including architecture, design, coding, testing, and deployment
- Ensure the scalability, security, and reliability of our systems as we grow
- Work closely with Product, Design, and other teams to define and deliver on product roadmaps
- Implement and optimize development processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance team efficiency and product quality
- Foster a culture of automation and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
- Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing new ideas to the team
- Encourage a culture of experimentation and innovation within the engineering team
Our take
Large construction projects take a long time to finish, and subcontractors can get caught up in the flow of money, waiting up to 80 days to be paid by general contractors. Such situations not only lead to project delays but also impose the burden of financing their project segments onto subcontractors. However, Constrafor has set out to change this through its SaaS construction procurement platform.
It streamlines information and documentation for how general contractors work with subcontractors and assumes the risk for the subcontractor invoice, freeing up cash flow. The general contractor then reimburses Constrafor for the invoice; its revenue is based on taking in about 2% of the value of the invoice.
Given that construction companies typically allocate less than 1.5% of their revenue to technology investments, Constrafor find itself in substantial demand, It stands out by offering tailored solutions, designed and developed on behalf of these companies. Bolstered by recent funding, secured through a SAFE note, Constrafor is poised to elevate its operations, effectively facilitating crucial functions like payroll management and other pivotal aspects of the construction process.
