Who you are

8+ years of hands on experience building and deploying NLP and ML models in real world production systems
Hands-on experience training, fine tuning, and/or deploying LLMs
Experience developing in Kotlin or a background in consumer finance is a huge plus
Strong problem solving skills with an emphasis on translating real-life problems into a concrete model development strategy. Blend academic rigor with a sense of pragmatism for rapidly prototyping and delivering solutions
Experienced in using Python for analysis and modeling
Experience using web services (GCP, AWS), and distributed data/computing tools (Ray, Spark, Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, etc.)
Excellent cross-functional communication skills

What the job involves

Each member of the AI Engineering team plays an integral part of what we are building at Figure
We leverage advanced techniques in generative AI, LLMs, machine learning, and cloud platforms to streamline, automate, and optimize how Figure operates
Develop and optimize generative AI technologies to streamline, automate, and optimize Figure
Train, fine tune, and deploy LLM solutions trained on our expansive proprietary data
Develop custom models and algorithms to apply to large datasets, as well as processes for monitoring and analyzing their performance
Mine and analyze data to build and train ML models that optimize customer experiences, customer acquisition, underwriting and other business outcomes
Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging AI to improve business processes
Collaborate cross functionally to deploy AI solutions and monitor outcomes

Our take

Figure handles loans and mortgaging. They are disrupting manual compensation surveys and traditional industry software with their blockchain platform, Provenance, which works as a registry, ledger, and exchange.

The company has branched from offering student loans into many products such as mortgages, personal loans, blockchain-based private credit and private investment opportunities. In 2020, they started seeking a national bank charter to simplify their business and offer better security.

The company is focusing on building blockchain-backed solutions and now offers its customers the option to leverage their cryptocurrency assets to get loans or mortgages and is one of the only companies to do so. Figure is betting heavily on the success of the $1 trillion cryptocurrency market and blockchain industry, and laid off 20% of its staff in July 2023 in preparation for an IPO bid. This IPO is targeted specifically at Figure's lending division, which saw massive growth over 2022 and 2023.

Having studied at Stanford and founded CCO Solutions, June spent 5 years at Social Finance with Mike, rising to VP of Product Management. She left this position in October 2017 to co-found Figure the following January.
