Who you are
- We’re looking for team members who align with our values, mission and goals – while also meeting the minimum qualifications below
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- 12+ years of experience in human resources or related field
- 5+ years leading recruiting teams or talent acquisition programs
- Experience partnering with senior leaders on hiring strategy and workforce planning
- Strong knowledge of talent acquisition metrics and analytics
- Experience implementing recruiting systems, automation, or AI-enabled recruiting tools
- Proven ability to build and scale recruiting processes and operations
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Experience leading talent acquisition in technical, aerospace, defense, or engineering-driven organizations
- Experience building university recruiting and internship programs
- Strong understanding of modern sourcing strategies and talent market insights
- Experience implementing recruiting technologies or talent intelligence tools
- Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

- The Director of Talent Acquisition leads a critical talent engine that directly enables Sierra Space’s mission, growth, and competitive advantage
- This role partners closely with senior leaders to translate business priorities into workforce strategy, ensuring we attract and hire the talent needed to advance next-generation space technologies and expand our proven defense and civil capabilities
- Talent acquisition is a mission-critical capability that impacts speed, innovation, and consistency in how we deliver for our customers
- This leader will build and scale a modern recruiting function, embedding AI, automation, and data-driven decision making at the core of how we source, assess, and hire talent, while strengthening our talent pipelines, elevating our employer brand, and delivering an exceptional candidate experience
- The Director oversees full-cycle recruiting, recruiting operations, university partnerships, and internship programs while driving a faster and more scalable approach to hiring top talent
- Lead and evolve Sierra Space’s talent acquisition strategy as a mission-critical capability, aligned to business priorities and workforce planning
- Partner with senior leaders, executives, and HRBPs to develop proactive, high-quality talent pipelines aligned to current and future workforce needs
- Lead and develop a high-performing recruiting team, driving accountability, capability building, and operational excellence
- Build and strengthen high-quality talent pipelines, elevate Sierra Spaces’ employer brand, and deliver an exceptional candidate experience that reflects our mission and values
- Strengthen recruiting operations through scalable processes, structured hiring frameworks, and data-informed decision tools
- Establish and monitor key recruiting metrics and dashboards, including pipeline health, time to fill, and quality of hire to drive continuous improvement
- Leverage recruiting analytics and market intelligence to inform hiring strategies, improve outcomes, and anticipate talent needs
- Embed AI and automation across the recruiting lifecycle to improve sourcing, screening, decision-making, and overall hiring effectiveness
- Oversee university partnerships, internships, and early career recruiting programs
- Lead strategic recruiting events and outreach initiatives to build strong and sustainable talent pipelines
Our take
Sierra Space is developing the next generation of power and infrastructure for the evolving space economy. Over the last three decades, the company and its affiliates have produced more than 4,000 space systems, and achieved 500+ space missions, including to Mars.
The company is closely tied to NASA but had adjusted near-term plans for its reusable Dream Chaser spaceplane, which was originally contracted to provide cargo resupply services to the International Space Station. Now, the company (working with NASA) will fly an initial free-flying demonstration mission, targeted for late 2026. The flight is intended to validate core systems such as autonomous operations, thermal protection, and runway landing, while reducing pressure from ISS certification timelines and gathering data to support future missions.
Alongside this, Sierra Space is expanding its footprint in defense and national security. In 2024, the company won its first Space Development Agency contract to build 18 satellites for the Tranche 2 Tracking Layer and has already completed the first 9 structures ahead of schedule. Supported by its Victory Works manufacturing facility and continued involvement in Orbital Reef, Sierra Space is increasingly positioned as a diversified supplier across civil, commercial and defense space markets.
