Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in information security, security engineering, application security, or a relevant field
- Strong knowledge of security principles, protocols, and technologies (e.g., CIA Triad, Segregation of Duties, Defense in Depth, Least Privilege)
- Proficiency in application security assessment techniques and tools, including SAST, DAST, and manual testing
- Solid understanding of secure coding practices and common web application vulnerabilities (e.g., OWASP Top Ten)
- Experience leading security investigations, coordinating incident response, and facilitating post-mortems
- Working knowledge of DevOps principles including containers & orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, build automation, & configuration management
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., SOC 2, NIST 800-53, CIS 18, ISO 27001, PCI DSS) and experience supporting compliance projects
- Knowledge of scripting and programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript) and web application frameworks
- Willingness to be available outside of normal business hours when required
- Understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts and services in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) is a plus
- Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, CCSK, or equivalent are a plus
- Self-starter that identifies problems, brings solutions, and is not afraid to step in and start working
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams
What the job involves
- The Nursa Product and Engineering team is looking for an experienced Senior Security Engineer to help safeguard our digital assets and secure our growing marketplace app
- As a Senior Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing security solutions to protect our organization against cyber threats and vulnerabilities
- Security Architecture: Design and implement security controls, frameworks, and architecture. Conduct security assessments and risk analyses of existing systems and applications. Apply and evangelize modern best practices in your security solutions and implementations
- Application Security Assessments: Help establish a formal vulnerability management program. Lead regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing. Perform code reviews, dynamic analysis, and static analysis to uncover security issues. Coordinate the remediation of identified vulnerabilities
- Threat Modeling: Develop and maintain threat models for critical applications and identify potential risks and attack vectors. Work with development teams to prioritize and address identified threats
- Incident Response and Management: Lead incident response efforts, including analyzing and mitigating security incidents. Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents. Create and maintain incident response plans and procedures
- Security Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations (GDPR, CCPA, CPRA), and industry standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001). Assist with audits and compliance assessments
- Project Management and Collaboration: Promote strong cross-functional collaboration with product management, DevOps, and other engineering teams. Be a strong contributor to the product vision and drive team planning
- Security Awareness and Training: Conduct security awareness training for employees and promote a security-conscious culture. Provide guidance and support for security-related training programs
- Mentorship: Mentor and coach junior team members
