Role
Who you are
- B.S. degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent experience
- Relevant experience as a Project Manager in a matrix organization with hands-on experience in complex high-tech or electro-mechanical project management, including resource planning and budgeting
- Experience managing the development process from concept to high volume production of electro-mechanical systems
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to build effective team relationships and efficiently mediate teams to achieve consensus
- You should have demonstrated capabilities of organizing multiple workstreams to enable a team to focus on the right work, right now. You'll use your experience in using disciplined change management, project portfolio management, and risk management strategies in everyday practice
- We're also seeking experience in using a team-centric project management system, which is governed by a phase gate development framework
- You enjoy bringing forward new ideas and concepts without being prompted and have the initiative and skills to adequately implement changes they see necessary
- You have capability for coaching all levels of the organization, including in the adoption of the new methods and processes, and exhibit infectious leadership that inspires and creates excitement when working through challenges
What the job involves
- We’re seeking a Staff Technical Program Manager to be a leader on our Product Development team. As Program Manager, you'll be integral to the creation and maintenance of complex schedules, planning milestones, and enabling the making of commitments to ensure successful customer-centric delivery of products
- Develop the cross-functional product development scope and create clear program plans with predictable outcomes and milestones that ensure products are ready for launch using our phase gate process
- Monitor and assess program performance with a focus on cost, quality, schedule and risk
- As a team member, effectively communicate with leadership, peers, customers, suppliers, and contract manufacturers
- Be energized by our challenges with the ability to effectively convince others of recommendations

Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics is a division of Walmart focussed on building robotics and complimentary technology to streamline retail and fulfilment operations. Founded as Alert Innovation, the company has partnered with Walmart from the start, meaning it was no surprise when the retail giant acquired it in 2022.
The company's goal is to use robotics to replace labor-intensive processes, for example the gathering of requested items in fulfilment centers. Its Alphabot hybrid warehouse system provides automated picking that works alongside human workers, with robots retrieving items and delivering them to a picking station where workers can efficiently prepare the customer orders.
With such a unique position as a division of a major retailer, Walmart Advanced Systems & Robotics should benefit from insight into the fulfilment issues that will most benefit from robotics automation. With more projects in development, it will be interesting see what it tackles next in grocery supply chain automation or beyond.
