Role
Who you are
- Deep expertise in disinformation, FIMI, and the information environment, including detection and differentiation across text, image, audio, video, and mixed media, and recognition of common FIMI indicators (e.g., coordinated amplification, deceptive attribution, information laundering, inauthentic identities, synthetic/repurposed media)
- End-to-end information environment analysis linking content, behaviours, networks, infrastructure, and audiences to map narratives, cross-platform pathways, objectives, and impacts
- Rigorous OSINT/PAI tradecraft across the full lifecycle (requirements → source scoping → safe/legal collection, including APIs/archives → structured storage) with strong verification practices (provenance checks, metadata analysis, geo/chrono-location, deduplication, cross-source corroboration) and analytic methods (link/network analysis, narrative mapping, temporal/spatial patterning, coordination/anomaly detection)
- Documented, reproducible methods and quality control (method notes, audit trails, taxonomies/ontologies, source reliability scoring, and QC checkpoints)
- Clear communication to senior stakeholders, explicitly stating confidence levels, assumptions, and limitations
- Technology-enabled analysis: confidence with data and visualisation tools and integrating workflow automation or platform components; effective collaboration with product and data teams
- Proven ability to deliver high-impact analysis for senior decision-makers while working effectively with technical and analytical teams; a mindset focused on innovation, efficiency, and long-term capability building
- Qualifications: degree in International Relations, Security Studies, Data Science, Political Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience), plus a minimum of five years in disinformation analysis, OSINT research, or information environment assessment, including investigation of how information is produced, disseminated, and amplified across online/offline channels with emphasis on narrative dynamics, influence techniques, and cross-platform coordination
Desirable
- Experience collaborating with product and data teams on platform integration and workflow automation
- Familiarity with cross-platform narrative mapping at scale and coordination detection across mixed media
What the job involves
- Produce high-quality reporting on disinformation and the information environment, ensuring outputs meet rigorous analytical standards
- Collaborate with product and data teams to integrate reporting processes into the ExTrac platform for greater scalability and efficiency
- Provide additional analytical capacity for ad hoc needs across defence and national security workstreams
- Identify opportunities to improve workflow consistency, technical sophistication, and reporting quality
- Support the evolution of our disinformation and information environment capabilities to deliver long-term client value and operational innovation
