Role
Who you are
- 4+ years of experience developing production applications, ideally in Go or Java
- 1+ years of experience working on platform and / or infrastructure teams
- Experience deploying and maintaining containerized applications and supporting systems that utilize containerization
- Strong cross-team collaboration skills, with experience working directly with product and stakeholder partners
- Experience building and operating core ML infrastructure (e.g., model serving, ML orchestration, feature stores, research environments)
- Experience with modern CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
What the job involves
- We're seeking a Software Engineer II to shape the tooling and infrastructure that power the next generation of scalable AI / ML and GenAI products at Remitly
- In this role, you'll collaborate with AI / ML, Data science, Data, and Infrastructure teams to design systems that enable seamless AI / ML experimentation, training, deployment, serving, and evaluation
- Your work will accelerate how quickly AI / ML ideas turn into customer impact—at a global scale
- You'll report to the AI Platform Engineering Manager and play a critical role in building and scaling the foundation for Remitly's future AI-driven products
- Design and build backend services in Go on AWS to support high-scale AI / ML workloads
- Develop and enhance core AI / ML platform offerings—including Feature Store, ML Orchestration, and Model Deployment & Serving—with a focus on performance, reliability, and usability
- Develop and deploy GenAI applications
- Partner closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and software engineers across multiple domains to deliver end-to-end solutions
- Drive infrastructure optimization and automation, improving system scalability, reliability, and developer velocity
- Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to align engineering initiatives with product and business goals

The emergence of digital banks with low transaction fees cross-country has increased competition in a space where Remitly was dominant for many years. The company must continue to innovate its product to ensure it is the go-to place for these types of payments.
That said, Remitly continues to partner with exciting companies and improve their service for loyal customers. The company is setting its sights beyond its core remittance service, such as through the introduction of Passbook, an app that allows customers to access digital banking through a partner bank.
