Role
Who you are
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or equivalent combination of relevant coursework and job-related experience
- Minimum of 5 years in a software test position for embedded systems
- Write, debug and review Python code
Desirable
- ARM CPUs, Embedded Linux experience, reading C/C++
- Ability to design and build automated test systems from basic engineering lab equipment, electronics and firmware design
- Experience guiding teams on best practices for code development
- Experience with hardware-control libraries and automated tests
- Experience managing data using Git and Jira APIs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including technical writing. Good documentation is a must!
What the job involves
- This position plays a critical role in the testing of Avive’s embedded software from early design stages through commercialization, ensuring that all products comply with internal, regulatory, and customer requirements
- Specifically, this position would focus on automating and streamlining our continuous testing process to increase overall efficiency of the test and development teams
- Design and implement automation framework with dedicated hardware fixtures using Pytest
- Lead end-to-end testing between internal and external systems, connected hardware products, cloud-based databases, and applications
- Create systems and processes that facilitate automated testing over manual test execution
- Consider and implement a robust CI for running unit and system level tests
- Triage defects from opening to closure. Find root causes and implement lasting solutions
- Write and deliver software project documentation, including software architecture documents, IUVs, design verification test plans, test protocols, and test reports
- Design, develop and test software tools that aid in development and manufacturing
- Maintain focus on delivering the highest quality product to our customers
- Work closely with the firmware development team for a deep and nuanced understanding of implementation detail

Our take
Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is a leading cause of death in the US, taking the lives of over 350,000 people per year. Currently, the survival rate for SCA is extremely low, but chances rise substantially if treatment can be administered quickly.
Avive Solutions exists to support better survival rates for SCA. The idea is to supply normal people with the tools to save lives, by developing and supplying automated external defibrillators (AEDs). The company's machines, which are currently the most portable FDA-approved AEDs on the market, not only act as defibrillators but also connect to other devices for remote monitoring, and can communicate with 911.
With the ultimate vision that no witnessed SCA goes untreated, there is no denying that Avive's undertaking is a noble one. Its product has been recognised by the International Design Excellence Awards, and substantial growth funding will be used to build connected AED networks in cities that enable AEDs to be used on Sudden Cardiac Arrest cases well before emergency services can arrive on scene.
