Role
Who you are
- We are looking for a hands-on Staff Software Engineer with extensive experience in building distributed systems, data pipelines, APIs and managing delivery of complex projects
- Expert in SQL and Python
- Experience with a Python web framework such as FastAPI or Django
- Experience with Postgres and Elasticsearch
- Experience in building real-time data pipelines using Bytewax, Flink or similar
- Experience with AWS
- Deep understanding of software development lifecycles, from code reviews to CI/CD and production monitoring
- Mission driven and intellectually curious
- Extremely technical with great problem solving abilities
- At least 5 years of experience as a Backend Developer or similar role
- At least 2 years of experience in a Team Lead role
- Thrives in early stage environments
- Is based anywhere between CET-1 and CET+1, but ideally in London
What the job involves
- The role’s core activity center will be in building out a series of platform level components that will power the evolution of Rated’s product suite
- Lead the design and implementation of platform-level components that will drive the evolution of Rated’s product suite
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, milestones, and deliverables
- Lead and participate in architectural decisions, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance
- Be hands-on with coding, code reviews, and architectural guidance as needed
- Drive engineering best practices, from CI/CD pipelines to code quality and testing strategies
- Foster a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation within the team
- We’re a highly technical 14 person team (and growing!), working in a hybrid/remote set-up, with a home base in London, UK

Our take
Blockchains, which facilitate recording transactions and tracking assets in a business network, are an immutable part of the cryptocurrency industry, but the machines that provide security to these networks are poorly understood. Rated Labs provides a network explorer for Ethereum beacon Chain and Prater validators, and validator operators, as a first step in expanding understanding of the machines that run the chain’s software.
Rated Labs was founded in 2022, in response to the highly contextualised concepts surrounding these machines. A low-performing or faulty validator could cause issues including parts of the network going offline, transactions not processing or perhaps complete system failure – which is a huge incentive for them to be better understood. Rated not only collects and displays performance information, but provides detail and context, so that users can make educated comparisons between validators. The vision for the future is that Rated becomes its own protocol, creating a standard for the machines that secure the Web 3.0 economy.
Rated Labs has raised impressive funding, with contributions from some of the most prominent investors in crypto, whose confidence shows the value of Rated’s technology. The funding will be used to accelerate the company’s mission, hire talent, and push its products forwards, importantly expanding beyond the limited validators it currently services.
