Role
Who you are
- An experienced DevOps Engineer with excellent Kubernetes experience
- Strong Experience with AWS, Terraform and Helm charts
- Solid Experience with Docker and CI pipelines
- Good understanding of programming languages and frameworks, with exposure to Clojure and/or Ruby a bonus
- Experienced working with distributed systems and knowledgeable in Agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum or Kanban)
What the job involves
- This role will involve migrating applications to Kubernetes that are currently running in Marathon and Mesos
- You will be working with the Back End team who will be supporting the migration through testing and advising on how the services are run
- The tech stack is an event driven, loosely coupled architecture using Clojure, Kafka, Ruby/Rails, Postgres and runs in AWS and Confluent
- You’ll be working in a collaborative fashion with the agile team to ensure they can own and operate their services in the most productive way
- Migrating applications to Kubernetes and Github Actions from Marathon/Mesos
- Performing hands-on technical implementation
- Working closely with the team to ensure the migrations are successful, initially in staging then in production
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to less experienced engineers on the team

Our take
Funding Circle launched in 2010 and it was the perfect time in the market. After the financial crisis in 2008, financial institutions were hesitant to lend money. Loans to SMEs were at record lows.
This meant that Funding Circle's innovative platform - connecting investors and businesses directly - had immediate product-market fit and growth. Funding Circle remains incredibly focused on small businesses, and this set it apart from other lending platforms. The business has since expanded to the USA.
The company completed its IPO in September 2018 in a challenging economic environment in Europe and the USA. In 2020, however, trading in the group’s core UK market was helped by its participation in the government’s Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme – the company says it has been responsible for a quarter of CBILS loans by volume since it was accredited to join the scheme in April 2020. Funding Circle continues to be a leading SME financing platform, exemplified by its partnership with Bayview Asset Management, with whom it has surpassed £1 billion in funding for its Term Lending product.
