- 3+ years of experience building and/or managing API-first products
- Hands-on experience with legacy distribution (including ticketing), either as a consumer or supplier
- Hands-on experience with PSS systems, either as a consumer or supplier
- Knowledge of New Distribution Capability (NDC) and ONE Order standards
- Good knowledge of EDIFACT and XML is required
- Experience with product lifecycle methodologies from idea to launch
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with exceptional decision-making skills
- Ability to provide clear direction and effective communication to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience working with Agile methodologies is a plus
- Experience working with software development tools like JIRA and Confluence
- Expertise in cross-product collaboration and managing inter-team dependencies
What the job involves
- We are looking for a thought leader to drive the roadmap of FLYR’s Legacy Translator that is our conversion and translation module between our Offer & Order platform and legacy distribution and reservation systems
- As a Technical Product Owner, you would work with FLYR leadership, product managers, individual product owners and airline experts to define the scope and capabilities of the Legacy Translator
- The aim is to support airlines in the transition from legacy distribution and PSS systems to Offer & Order while ensuring that collaboration with partners remaining in the legacy world is still possible
- You will work with your dedicated engineering team to bring these new capabilities to life
- Work with our offer & order teams to align on supported legacy flows
- Work with our airline customers and their legacy partners on how to best implement the various booking and servicing scenarios
- Integrate with the legacy solutions as well as the other OOMS modules
- Define product specifications and detailed use cases
- Develop and execute a product roadmap to deliver continuous upgrades and value
- Continuously refine and maintain the product backlog with cross-functional product teams, ensuring all items are well-defined, estimated, and prioritized
- Facilitate regular product demos, highlighting critical features to stakeholders to showcase progress and gather feedback
Our take
The airline industry is gargantuan, being responsible for hundreds of billions of revenue per year, and yet in managing their revenue, airline operators have traditionally used relatively simplistic regression models based on few variables. FLYR’s deep learning platform dramatically upgrades airline’s pricing strategy by ingesting a whole host of data provided by the airline to predict demand and revenue, and set the price.
FLYR’s technology takes into account information such as bookings, accounting data, searches, capacity, and even weather and promotions. After proving itself capable of delivering 5%-plus revenue uplifts for airlines, the company began fleshing out its offerings to keep up with the requirements of its large and growing customer base.
FLYR have made a significant number of acquisitions in recent years; including Pace Revenue, a UK-based seller of rate-setting tools for hotels and lodging companies. This activity tunes in to the expectation that the company will bring its sophisticated pricing models to other sectors of the travel industry. FLYR has also gained new partner airlines in JetBlue and Azul, showing that its core offering has not lost any of its traction.
