Who you are
- 3+ year of software engineering experience
- Experience working on cross-functional teams
- Fullstack experience building modern database-backed (sql/no-sql) web applications
Desirable
- Production experience with React, Typescript, Next.js, Node.js, or Kafka
- Previous experience working on Internal tools teams
- Experience working on a platform team
- Experience or interest in building good UX

What the job involves
- Rula's mission is to make mental healthcare work for everyone: patients, mental health providers, and healthcare systems. Providing high quality human centric support is essential for helping both patients and providers use Rula
- As a member of Rula’s Internal Tools team you will work on building streamlined workflows for the support team, and maintaining the platform for other engineering teams to build their support flows. We are looking for candidates who are interested in working on a small team within a fast-growing product
- You will enjoy this role if you enjoy working closely with your users - be it support agents or other engineers using your product
Our take
More than half of adults in the US will be diagnosed with a mental illness during their lifetime, and yet inaccessibility of treatment remains a huge problem. That’s what Rula aims to solve, with its platform that matches users to therapists that are covered by their insurance.
The company, formerly known as Path, is partnered with a number of major health insurers, including UnitedHealthcare and Anthem, making it an accessible service for millions of Americans. It allows users to browse therapists almost instantly, with just a short questionnaire to fill in before their matches are shown.
Though the market for tech services offering mental health provision is an overstuffed one, containing giants like BetterHelp as well as newer competitors, Rula's partnerships with insurers do mark it out against the crowd. The business has been steadily growing, and significantly bolstered its executive team in 2023. Its recent rebrand was designed to emphasize its vision to improve not only access to mental health care, but also clinical outcomes.
