Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of professional web development experience, with significant focus on WordPress
- Strong proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript (vanilla and/or modern frameworks)
- Hands-on experience building and customizing WordPress themes and plugins from scratch
- Experience with WordPress VIP, including familiarity with its hosting environment, deployment workflows, and code standards
- Familiarity with page builders such as Elementor, Gutenberg, or similar tools
- Experience integrating HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, or similar platforms
- Understanding of web performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO
- Solid grasp of WordPress security best practices and site hardening
- Experience with Git-based version control workflows
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment
- Strong written communication skills for async collaboration
Desirable
- Experience with B2B tech or cybersecurity companies
- Familiarity with headless WordPress or REST API integrations
What the job involves
- SpecterOps is seeking an experienced Web Developer with deep WordPress expertise to support the ongoing development, optimization, and maintenance of our public-facing web presence
- You will work closely with our Marketing team to build and refine web pages, implement new functionality, and ensure our WordPress environment is well-maintained and scalable
- We're looking for a self-directed developer who communicates clearly, manages their own workload effectively, and takes ownership of deliverables from start to finish
- You should be equally comfortable building new features from scratch and jumping into an existing codebase to troubleshoot and improve it. The ideal candidate will bring both technical depth and an eye for design to every engagement
- Design, develop, and maintain WordPress-based web properties, including custom themes and plugins
- Build and update landing pages, campaign pages, and site sections in close collaboration with Marketing and Design
- Implement responsive, accessible, and cross-browser-compatible front-end code (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Optimize site performance including page speed, Core Web Vitals, and SEO best practices
- Manage WordPress configuration, plugin updates, and security hardening
- Integrate third-party tools and APIs including CRM, marketing automation, and analytics platforms
- Troubleshoot and resolve front-end and back-end issues in a timely manner
- Maintain clean, well-documented code and follow established development standards
- Support QA and testing processes to ensure consistent, high-quality releases
- Collaborate asynchronously with a remote-first team across Marketing, Design, and Operations

The old saying “the best defense is a good offense” is relevant here, and SpecterOps, with a co-founder with a background doing similar for the US Marines, has plenty of experience deflecting cyber threats. The company’s Bloodhound software maps and removes potential attack paths and choke points and consults on how companies can improve security. Bloodhound was initially leveraged by penetration testers but has found wider adoption over the last two years, with its customer base growing by 600% in that time. Clients include Capital Group, Woodside Energy, and the University of Texas.
This proactive approach to defense has drawn in considerable investment, SpecterOps having raised two rounds of Series A in 2023 and further VC in 2024. This funding will go towards accelerating what is already a highly popular cyber defense product, whilst 2026 saw it expand its Bloodhound coverage to GitHub and Mac environments.
