Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a software engineer
- Experience working with internal stakeholders to solve business problems through integration solutions
- Proficiency in Golang
- Experience building RESTful APIs with proper service security practices
- Experience working with observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Sentry, or Kibana
- Experience with Kubernetes
- Experience with GitLab or other CI/CD tools
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation with 10+ engineers
Desirable
- Experience working with ERP systems such as Oracle or NetSuite
- Experience working in an Agile Scrum environment
- Familiarity with tools like Jira and Confluence
- Familiarity with integration patterns such as pub/sub, CDM (Common Data Model), and batch processing
- Experience working with PostgreSQL
- Experience with Cloudflare Developer’s Platform
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a software engineer to join our Enterprise Integrations Team. You’ll work on building and maintaining integration workflows between Cloudflare and a variety of SaaS applications
- This includes taking work from concept through implementation, including gathering requirements, writing technical specifications, development, testing, and deployment
- You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure integrations meet business needs and are built following engineering best practices. As you grow in the role, you’ll have the opportunity to lead larger initiatives and own projects from end to end
- Cloudflare’s Enterprise Integrations Engineering Team designs, builds, and maintains integrations across a wide range of SaaS applications used throughout the organization. Our mission is to create scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems that ensure data flows securely and efficiently between platforms. With several high-impact projects always in motion, the ability to manage shifting priorities, communicate clearly, and collaborate effectively is essential
- Our team is highly collaborative, values continuous learning, and supports each other through shared ownership and open communication. We work closely with both technical and business teams, conduct regular retrospectives, and look for ways to improve how we build and deliver integrations
Our take
Cloudflare is a multi-service global network that provides web security and infrastructure, DDoS mitigation services, and a content delivery network. Founded in 2009, Cloudflare has risen to become an industry giant, with around 25 million global internet properties on its network.
Cloudflare has been responsible for a number of admirable initiatives, offering free web protection to human rights groups, journalists, artists, and US election websites. This goes some way to counteracting the flak Cloudflare has received in some circles for the controversial groups and users who use its services. This chequered history, however, has not affected its over 80% market share in the content delivery network field.
This is perhaps in part because it has proven sharp at staying abreast of the rapidly morphing tech and digital space and customer demands. For example, Cloudflare is shifting to 100% renewable energy usage to create a zero-emissions internet, and in 2020 released a feature that would help users navigate data privacy regulations by selecting where their data is stored.
The cloud infrastructure market reached $53 billion in 2022. While the Big 3 (Amazon, Microsoft, and Google) own 65% of the market, that still leaves billions of dollars left for companies such as Cloudflare. Its ambitious and successful work is likely to continue being a crucial feature of the web, but in 2023, placed it in the crosshairs of hackers looking to exploit its infrastructure. The beginning of 2024 saw Cloudflare vow to bolster its security and patch vulnerabilities.
